Dr. A was very nice and chatty. Made me feel at ease; probably because I'm in healthcare and we both know many other doctors in the same field.
Only thing was that she's old school and uses water instead of lubricant with the speculum for pap smears. And that hurt like the Dickens!

After graduating from Guntur Medical College (GMC), India, Vijaya did her post graduate studies in Obstetrics and Gynecology from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Bombay. After a year of private practice in Obstetrics and Gynecology in India she made her home in Chicago. She completed her post-graduate residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago, IL and received her permanent board certification by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1984. Vijaya has been in private practice in Chicago since 1979. She was elected as a fellow of the American College of Gynecology and Obstetricians (ACOG) and the Chicago Gynecological Society.
Dr. Arekapudi is focused on providing individualized care to her patients that focuses on continuity of care. In addition to offering all services of an obstetrician/gynecologist she is also able to offer in-office minimally invasive procedures to help women with heavy bleeding.

While the Dr was very nice and knowledgeable, I had a very bad experience with all things administrative at this office. For 2 out of my 4 visits, the Dr either didn't know what I was coming in for or forgot to actually schedule my appointment, so the office was closed when I showed up for my appointment. The doctor incorrectly marked what I was coming in for for one visit and I had to pay out of pocket while we waited for insurance to approve my visit/procedure due to a scheduling error on the office's end. I then had to wait a little over a month to be refunded the amount I paid even though insurance had approved and paid the office less than a week after submission. It was also a frustrating process trying to confirm what card my refund would go back to and why I was being refunded a certain amount. The office is not well organized administratively which made appointments and payments very difficult and frustrating. Again, the doctor herself is great at what she does.

Confirmed they accepted my insurance prior to the appointment. The dr. spent 20 minutes with me. No bloodwork or urine sample was taken which was concerning. She performed my requested ultrasound. She said she saw a cyst and would “send it in to be looked at”. Charged me out of pocket. No follow up after appointment. No response to emails, phone calls, and did not answer the door when I showed up in person. Very strange experience.

I should have read the other reviews, I was told this was covered by insurance then at the end of the appointment was charged a large fee. They told me insurance only covers one exam a year, even though this was my first exam this year. I don’t even think they ran my insurance and demanded pay on the spot.

She was brash and didn’t listen to me. It was very uncomfortable and she talked over me until I finally got a chance to explain why I was there. Then she tells me I’m in the wrong place and the ultrasound I was asking for wasn’t necessary at all, even though my primary insisted on it.
The whole thing lasted 15 min, most of which she was talking over me and then correcting me with no sympathy. Then insisted I pay an extreme cost without checking my insurance and saying they’ll check it later and if the insurance does cover anything they’ll refund me, which I’ve never experienced at a dr office before. Doctors always check insurance before charging, but this office refused to even when I insisted. They demanded payment on the spot, even though they didn’t complete anything I asked for and were generally aggressive and rude to me.
I left crying, which they saw and continued to pressure me to pay. Probably the worst medical experience I’ve had in a long time.

The dr is very efficient and has good bedside manor. However, the family member she had working at the front desk never knows what is going on. I've had issues with appointment times and billing in previous years.
For a yearly visit, the efficiency wins out for me.
