The only negative thing was the wait time my appointment was scheduled for 9:45 I wasn't seen until after 11:00 and finally was done by noon! My actual time spent with the doctor was approximately 15 minutes.

I thought my visit was very good. It was relaxing, even thru my medical visits it is not scary.
Very professional, patient, and explain everything in detail about the operation.
Competent surgeon but waited a long time in the room for him to arrive. I saw him for pretty generic neck pain and after we ruled out disk issues that would require surgery, he didn't express much of an interest in helping. Maybe not an interesting problem for a neurosurgeon....but very hard on me as the patient......

I am sure that Dr. Nayar is an excellent neurosurgeon when it comes to brain aneurysms. However, he did not appear to be knowledgeable when it comes to spine conditions. He did not understand that lateral impingement of the L4 nerve root, which lies above the L5 is common cause for L5 nerve root irritation and pain. This is basic neuropathophysiology of the spine. I came to Dr. Nayar for a second opinion on getting a fusion, but would not recommend him for spine patients.

MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, in Washington, D.C., is one of the finest teaching hospitals in the mid-Atlantic region. Dr. Nayar makes himself accessible during regular clinic hours, and uses the learning opportunities with hightly qualified, intelligent, and motivated students to develop our next generation of great doctors and physician assistants. Talented medical professionals treated me with respect, care, and attentive listening. Using a "thinking out loud" technique, these experts told me both what exam they were performing, and how it contributed to a diagnosis. They responded to my questions with thoughtful replies. When Dr. Nayar joined our conversation, he gave me his full attention as he received a summary of my medical history, the clinician's exam, and possible next diagnostic steps. He engaged with me as a person, not a collection of symptoms and tests.

Everything has gone well since I met Dr. Nayar. I would recommend him to any of my family or friends if they came across the same problem.
I felt he was very thorough and addressed my questions & concerns satisfactorially. My experience with Dr. Nayar has been very good.
I was diagnosed with an unruptured but serious cerebral aneurysm. I've seen Dr. Nayar 4 times for office visits and under went microsurgical/cerebral aneurysm clipping performed by him. Surgical skills excellent and followup angiogram shows complete aneurysm removal and full artery restoration. Dr. Nayar has excellent ability to explain the technical medical issues well, be patience, calming and supportive of the patient. Office runs smoothly and staff pleasant, understanding and supportive.
