Dr. Vivek P. Kushwaha, Orthopaedic Surgeon Specializing in Adult Lumbar and Cervical Disorders & Spine Trauma. Dr. Kushwaha is originally from San Antonio and joined Orthopaedic Associates in 1997. He is married, with three children. Dr. Kushwaha enjoys tennis, skiing, and golf.
Dr. Kushwaha specializes in adult degenerative conditions of the cervical and lumbar spine. In 1987, Dr. Kushwaha received his B.A. from University of Texas – Austin. In 1991, he received his medical degree from University of Texas Medical School in San Antonio. In 1996, he completed his orthopaedic internship and residency at the University of California at Los Angeles Medical Center.
Dr. Kushwaha completed a fellowship in spine surgery at Rancho Los Amigos Medical Center in Downey, CA. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Kushwaha is on staff at Houston Orthopedic & Spine Hospital, Memorial Hermann Hospital and St. Joseph Medical Center. He has been the Chief of Spine Surgery at the University of Texas Medical School and Memorial Hermann Hospital. He is a major component of the teaching program at the UT medical students, residents and fellows. He has won several awards for clinical care, surgical skill, research and teaching over the last several years.

Awful! !! Medical assistant provided prescribed medication which required injections with no explanation indicating it was self explanatory. .. I was provided a pamphlet in Spanish and told they didn't have English, unfortunately I don't speak or read Spanish. ... I was told by another employee i could leave prior to completion of dr recommended treatment,. Awful

So many professional assume they know more than you it becomes a debate. .I am very happy and know that I'm not being given a lot of subterfuge to ameliorate my pain.Pain is subjective so when one is having it, no amount of deep breathing or psychic journeys are going to alleviate it.

He just wasn't like my Dr that referred him to me. He seemed very cold wasn't very interested in my care. I felt he was only talking to me because Dr Jones referred me to him his associate was mjust as cold as he was wouldn't look at me when talking to me then when Dr Kushwaha came in he talk to me for 10-15 minutes all he said looks like you need surgery and i said no i want the injection first and he said ok and ou the office he was gone. Not friendly at ALL!!!!!!! I didn't like that at all. My Dr's talk to me like they care about my health not about if you don't want surgery then ok bye.

Although he is a reputable surgeon i could have done without his condescending attitude. Once in the exam room expect a 10-20 minute wait for him to come in. If you can look past that then he's recommendable.
