Dr. Vivienne Velasco received her Bachelors of Science degree in 1999 from the University of California, San Diego where she majored in Animal Physiology and Neuroscience with minors in music and psychology. In 2005, she received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry in her hometown of Fullerton, CA. The internships she completed during her last year in optometry school afforded her a well rounded background in all facets of optometry. Her first internship landed her at the prestigious Wellish Vision Institute in Las Vegas to learn how to manage cornea, glaucoma and LASIK patients. She then headed to the San Diego Center for Vision Care where she learned to care for people affected with visual disabilities caused by crossed eyes, amblyopia (lazy eye), and traumatic brain injuries through a specialized field called vision therapy. Her final internship was at the Santa Barbara Veteran Affairs clinic where she cared for the wonderful people who have served our country.
After graduating, she moved to her new home in Las Vegas, NV to serve her residency at the Southern Nevada Veterans Affairs clinic with an emphasis on the treatment of ocular disease and management of low vision. During this time she became licensed and certified in the use of the anterior segment laser to treat certain eye conditions through the Northeastern State University of Oklahoma. At the completion of her residency in 2006, she became certified in the treatment and management of glaucoma, a certification few optometrist hold in Nevada. Through hard work and a rigorous process, she was appointed a Fellow in the esteemed American Academy of Optometry in 2007.
By starting iFocus Vision Center - Optometry Las Vegas, Dr. Velasco is able to practice the way she has always believed to treat patients like family in a warm and welcoming environment using the latest technologies.
When she is not caring for her patients, you can find Dr. Velasco doing something else she is passionate about - volleyball! Although she may be vertically challenged, she plays with as much heart and dedication as she uses to treat her patients.

This was my first visit to Dr. Velasco's office. Everything from the beginning to the end was top notch. The staff was friendly and professional. The doctor was great, I was really pleased with her "bedside manner" and the way she explained things to me. I'm a systems engineer, I want to know why not just what! I will recommend her to my friends.

I have poor nearsighted vision and have my eyes checked regularly. Of all the eye doctors I've been to, Dr. Vivienne Velasco is the best optometrist I've seen. The one thing that made her really stand out for me was how she took the time to make sure my prescription was just right. Nothing felt rushed. On top of that she is super friendly and is very knowledgable when it comes to eye health.

The front desk staff was very cordial and professional over the phone as well as in person (thank you for that). Also, the doctor was very down to earth and professional and went over a very thorough exam with me that made me feel at ease and able to understand the step by step process. Picking out my frames were must've been the most difficult. I loved so much of the style variety but depending on my insurance coverage....I stuck to what I could afford. LOL. Thank you to the staff and the doctor and to the person who referred me to this office.

I can't even begin to describe how glad I am that I found Dr. Velasco! I had just come from another eye doctor who kept cranking the prescription strength on one eye, and nothing was getting any clearer. I knew I had to make a change. Come to find out, my prescription was incorrect and I was using contacts that were damaging my eyes. I felt totally at ease with her and she hears you out on any issues. For the first time in awhile, I don't mind going to the eye doctor. I would definitely recommend Dr. Velasco.

Being a new patient. Dr. Valasco's staff made me feel comfortable as soon as I walked in the door. It being a morning appointment and a MONDAY, usually most staff and patient do not feel chatty.
It had been quite sometime since my last eye exam and Dr. Valasco was very patient and not rushed to see the next patient. Most of all I did not feel the NEED to spend money on expensive frames in this office. Thank you most of all for that.
I will be back to see Dr. Valasco and refer friends looking for an O.D.

The staff is very nice and tolerant. I had my 2 yr old with me when I took my older daughter in and they were so nice to her even though she wouldn't sit still. Vivienne is wonderful as well and they take Medicaid. I did have to wait a long time though, about an hour and a half, given they got busy as we got there. Overall I would definitely recommend.

Dr. Velasco has always been very friendly. Her office has a nice, varied selection of eyeglasses frames. I have been going to this office since 2010, and have no desire to see a different optometrist.

Dr Velasco was very professional and straightforward. I was in and out of her office in no time. I didn't feel rushed. I felt like she knew what she was doing and that I got the best exam I could get. The office is very clean and all of the staff was really nice.
