Dr. Wade E. Fiegl graduated from Houghton College in western N.Y. before earning his Doctor of Optometry degree in 1997 from Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia, PA. His training included externships at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD and the Philadelphia VA Hospital.
After graduating with academic and clinical honors he served as a Navy Lieutenant at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, FL. At NAS JAX he participated in the Aviation Contact Lens Program, the military Laser Vision PRK Study, and the Eye Health Readiness Study. Before joining Eye Care Doctors of Optometry in Feb, 2010, Dr. Fiegl served for 10 years at a large private practice near Binghamton, NY where his interests included: specialty contact lenses, treatment of eye disease and glaucoma, diabetic eye exams, and co-management of laser vision correction and cataract surgeries.
Dr. Fiegl has been a member of the American Optometric Association, Armed Forces Optometric Society, and New York State Optometric Society. He is currently a founding member of the American Optometric Society. When he’s not practicing Optometry Dr. Fiegl enjoys reading, listening to music, spending time with his wife and 5 children, and participating in his church community.

Upon entering the building the office staff was very polite and attentive.
However, my appointment was towards the end of the day and they were running behind. I didn’t feel as if my exam was very thorough, and I felt very rushed. I wasn’t given much, if any, opportunity to ask questions or explain changes in my eyesight that prompted me to schedule in the first place. The doctor didn’t offer much of an explanation of my exam, other than telling me to go up front and pick some frames. I’m not a current glasses-wearer so this wasn’t some sort of routine for me.
I considered bringing my children here, but I will look elsewhere, and I’m not very likely to return.

I was very pleased by my appointment with Dr. Fiegl. I only waited about 5 minutes after arriving before I was seen and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Dr. Fiegl was quite thorough and professional, and the appointment went much more quickly than I had anticipated. After my eye exam, the staff member who worked with me to select glasses and apply my insurance benefits was wonderful to work with - very knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful. To my surprise, they had my lenses in stock and my glasses were ready the next day...that's unheard of, but a very pleasant bonus!

Staff was outgoing and friendly. The doctor answered my questions and was extremely helpful. Asked if I would like to order the glasses while there but was willing to just give me the prescription to take with me. I did not feel pressured to buy glasses there, but they had very competitive prices so I did.

Excellent physician! Thorough and truly an expert who continues to stay current in his practice. He provided outstanding education regarding my conditions, answered all questions with patience and kindness, and was well engaged throughout the visit. This visit made every other ophthalmologist/optometrist appointment I've had seem not nearly good enough. Dr. Fiegl sets the standard in this field. The office staff are EXCELLENT as well. The front desk associates and the technician who performs the various instrument exams (e.g. retinal imaging, etc.) are very customer-oriented, friendly, and helpful. Thank you so much to a great team! Also, if you are planning to get prescription eyeglasses or sunglasses, their selection surpasses every other local establishment I know of. Lots of designers showcasing classical styles, as well as current trends. You just can't go wrong here!
