Dr Blackwell started PonteVita Rx because he believes everyone deserves access to their routine medications at a price that does not break the bank.
Dr. Blackwell is a double-board-certified physician. He completed his medical school at The University of South Florida. He then went to the Emergency Medicine Program at The University of Houston, where he served as the Chief Resident and graduated with multiple awards, including Resident of the Year, Clinician of the Year and was honored with an award for the best academic performance in his class. A decade after his training, following his passion for fitness and metabolic health, he obtained board certification in obesity medicine as well. Throughout his career as a physician, he has worked across multiple healthcare settings such as the ER, urgent care and ICU, as well as working directly for health insurance companies and skilled nursing facilities. In 2018, he began working as a telehealth physician. His experiences in different settings have provided him with an awareness that there is a systematic lack of focus on patients’ medication needs. He is combining his expertise to streamline the refill process for patients because no one should ever go without access to their medications.
Dr. Blackwell married his high school sweetheart, Lizette, and they have three amazing children, a chocolate lab named Happy, and three cats (Mr. Me-Meow is his favorite). They love outdoor adventures, travel and the beach. They currently reside in central Florida.

Dr. Blackwell is a godsend. I work a job with long, irregular hours, but I always can reach him when I need something. The care is more personal than actual in-person treatment and there's direct response from HIM. I feel like an actual person and not just a number.

Dr Blackwell is amazing! I get major anxiety/whitecoat even doing telehealth visits with all doctors and I a count on one hand how many have understood that. Dr Blackwell has been the most understanding and nonjudgmental doctor I’ve had. Also very quick to get an appointment with and have a chat, and super easy and convenient for my regular rx refills. Highly recommend!

Dr. Blackwell has provided my family with personable, effective and insightful care. We’ve needed his services for a couple of different ailments in the family, and he’s been quick to diagnose those ailments. The process was smooth, and we were able to get the needed medications promptly. It is no fun getting sick, but Dr. Blackwell has made the recovery process fast and effective.
