Dr. William J. Rand, Medical Director founded the Rand Eye Institute in 1979, a comprehensive ophthalmology practice located in South Florida. The Institute houses the
Rand Surgical Pavilion a state-of-the-art, full-service outpatient, ambulatory surgical facility.
Together with his staff, serves an international portfolio of patients, representing 48 different countries.
His MD degree was awarded by the State of New York in 1974 through State University
of New York. Completed his Microsurgical Ophthalmology Training at Brooklyn Eye and Ear Hospital and Brookdale Hospital Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. He served as Chief Resident in Ophthalmology during his third year of residency training. Fellowship training were completed at both The Institute of Ophthalmology in Houston, Texas and Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, Florida.
Dr. Rand’s credentials include Board Certification from the American Academy of Ophthalmology (Fellow), American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, American Medical Association, as well as a member in good standing with numerous local Florida Societies.
He has been honored by several awards and recognitions beginning with a Bolivia School of Medicine named in honor of Rand Eye Institute, American Medical Association, Physicians Recognition Awards, South Florida Business Journal Heavy Hitter in Health Care Award.
As an advocate of health care reform Dr. Rand was invited to testify before the Senate Committee on Labor and Human Resources, Subcommittee on Labor regarding the causes
of decreasing quality of health care under managed care.
Dr. Rand is a corneal specialist in extensive microsurgery with experience in an excess of 40,000 major ophthalmic surgical procedures.
