Hello everyone, welcome to Sierra Pediatrics. My name is Dr. Xenia Cabey-Molinar. I am a board certified Pediatrician and the founder of Sierra Pediatrics.
I received my medical doctor degree from the University of Panama located in my native country Panama. From Panama I migrated to New York were I received my training in Pediatrics at Brooklyn Caledonian hospital. Right after the completion of my training I was offer a fellowship in neonatology at the University of South Florida in conjunction with Tampa Medical Center. While in Tampa I gave birth to our first treasure, my son. While in training to become a neonatology doctor I realized that even though I loved neonatology, emotionally I was not ready or capable to be away from my newborn son sometimes 12 or 24 hours at a time! After 1 year of training, my family and I relocated to Arizona where I joined a Pediatrics group practice. Just a few years later, in 1993, Sierra Pediatrics was founded.
I truly enjoy been a general pediatrician. To be able to guide the parents on how to keep their kids healthy and to be able to make a sick child healthy again is rewarding.
After giving birth to my son and daughter I realized how frustrating it is for parents to find a daycare that will nurture their kids in a small loving and family like environment. So my husband and I decided to build a daycare right next to our practice. So now I am even more rewarded on monitoring the development of a child with the direction of the professional staff at Complete Kids Care.
When I am not practicing medicine, I love spending time with my family; my two treasures are my son Temi Jr. and my daughter Janelle, and of course my loving husband Temi.

I left my son's two year check-up feeling awful as a mom. My son's speech delay was of high concern for her but she failed to listen to any of my answers after her obligatory follow up questions regarding his other developmental milestones. This consequently lead to a lecture on how delayed my son is in comparison to the what "should be" 100 worded vocabulary; this followed by a treatment plan based on her presumtion of my inadequacy as a mother. This treatment plan includes reading to him 3 times a day since my twice a day was not enough, I must eliminate the use of sign language as a means of communicate since he apperantly uses it to be lazy and doesn't have to use words, and again after failing to listen to me when I said I do in fact communicate with my son as if I were a sportscaster (daily routines and other activities are explained as they are happening), she includes this as part of the treatment plan.
Not only was I now responsible for the progression of my son's speech but his aunt and grandparents who we are living with was partially to blame for his speech delay as they apperantly baby him so he doesn't feel the need to talk. On top of all the passive reprehension that I endured she was unshamefuly making remarks about my son's weight throwing around the word "chubby" more than once and to her very appernt surprise, he is not over weight. This made me extremely uncomfortable as my expecations for a certain level of professionalism were completely disappointed.In the end I left the appointment in tears. I have sinced changed doctors to someone that listens to what i say without any judgment.

My son is 10 and Dr. Cabey has been his pediatrician since birth. We have been to her for everything from routine annual exams, to pneumonia, asthma, one broken arm and even stitches among other things. She is always great, friendly and we LOVE her!

the girl giving the shot to my son, could use a little more training on how to give an injection. she did not secure his legs, while i was holding his arms, could of been a possible needle break while he twisted half way with the needle still in thigh, also little to high on the injection sight. but all good.

Second visit, first visit my husband waited 2 hours before being seen. I felt like Dr Cabey was criticizing me the whole visit instead of helping me get my son back on track. He had been having recurrent ear infections and had not been giving me clues. On top of that, apparently, he was behind on vaccinations. Instead of just explaining this to my husband and I, she demanded answers and sarcastically said "let Mom answer". I ask my husband along with me because I am learning disabled and have a difficult time processing information. She treated me like an incompetent uncaring mother. She also let me know how far behind my bright boy is education wise, because he is too shy to answer questions at times, and was interpreted as uneducated. Not to mention that the first visit my husband waited about 2 hours. I do not recommend and I immediately went elsewhere.

We are so glad we found Dr. Cabey! She and her office staff were kind and professional. Dr. Cabey does a wonderful job of including our son (even a 7 year old) in his care. We were able to get an evening appointment which meant we didn't have to take time off work or pull our son out of school.

Dr Cabey is incredible! For 18 years we have been going to her for the care of our three children. She is thorough, and compassionate. We are always confident in her care and know she always has the best interest of our children in mind! We wouldn't trust the care of our children to anyone else.
