Dr. Zakee Shabazz is a native of New Orleans, LA. He attended Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans, and received his Bachelor of Science in Biology, Pre-medicine in 1997. He attended New York College of Podiatric Medicine (NYCPM) from 1997-2001 and graduated cum laude. He also received many honors and awards, and he held numerous leadership positions such as sophomore class vice-president, junior class president, and senior class president.
After graduating from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in June 2001, Dr. Shabazz immediately entered a three-year podiatric medical and surgical residency (PM&S-36) at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, which is associated with Weil-Cornell Medical School. He achieved the distinctive rank of chief resident, during his last year of residency. The residency program emphasized extensive training in wound care, sports medicine, congenital foot deformities, foot/ankle trauma and reconstructive foot and ankle surgery.
After completing his residency training in June 2004, Dr. Shabazz relocated to Los Angeles, CA, and began private practice in Marina Del Rey with Odyssey Medical Group from August 2004 through August 2006. Due to the desire of remaining academic, he was named assistant director of podiatric residency program at Hollywood-Presbyterian Hospital in Downtown LA from January 2005 through June 2006.
Dr. Shabazz relocated to Sterling, VA in Fall 2006, where he began work as an Associate Podiatrist with National Capital Foot and Ankle Center in Washington, DC, before establishing Fair Oaks Podiatry and Sports Medicine, P.C. in Fairfax, VA in 2009.
Dr. Shabazz is on staff at INOVA Fair Oaks, INOVA Fairfax, INOVA Mt. Vernon, Washington Hospital Center and Suburban, along with Fairfax Surgery Center, Northern Virginia Surgery Center at Fair Oaks Hospital, River Road Surgery Center, and Premiere Surgery Center in Washington, DC.
Dr. Shabazz has been an Attending Physician with INOVA Mt. Vernon and Fair Oaks Wound Healing Centers, since April 2009. He is able to provide the latest biomedical technologies to aid in swift healing to a variety of wounds, such as Diabetic ulcers, Venous and Arterial ulcers, Traumatic ulcers, Pressure ulcers, and Surgical ulcers affecting the lower extremity. Dr. Shabazz is Board Certified with American Board of Podiatric Surgery.

I was surprised by how much time Dr. Shabazz spent with me on my most recent visit. It is very much appreciated when a doctor will have a full conversation with you. He took time to explain all of my results to me, and answered all of my questions. His approach is preferably slower, which I think is the model more physicians around the area should use. I cannot say enough about Dr. Shabazz to convince you that he is the podiatrist you should schedule your next appointment with. The final selling point: He has a poster of DC Comics' Shazam!

Dr. Shabazz is hands down one of the best physicians I've seen. His level of care and service is unmatched. When my daughter was injured while at school, he reviewed her ER x-rays at 7pm on a Friday night and then personally called me and my husband to discuss what he saw- again 7pm on a Friday evening. He then gave us a personal referral for a physician in Columbia who called our daughter first thing Monday morning and squeezed her in that afternoon.

This was my second time seeing Dr. Shabazz and he answer all my questions and concerns. I really appreciate the time that he spends listening to my problems and helping me find a solution. We are not done yet it's work in progress. I also like that he has a sense of humor....it helps you feel more relaxed especially when you are in pain 90% of the time :-) Thank you for everything that you and your staff have done so far.

Dr Shabazz removed an ingrown toenail quickly and painlessly.
I would recommend him to anyone. He also quickly responded to an email about the problem in the fairly late evening and made getting in to see him very easy to fit into my schedule.
