Dr. Zelimir Vukasin is an adult psychiatrist with more than 31 years of experience providing compassionate psychiatric care through medication management. He received his medical degree from Medicinski Fakultet, Sveu?ili?ta u Zagrebu (University of Zagreb Medical School) in Croatia. He completed his residency in psychiatry at Mount Sinai Beth Israel in New York and his residency in internal medicine at New York Hospital Queens. Throughout his career, Dr. Vukasin has practiced in various settings, including inpatient psychiatry, long-term care, private practice, and non-profit outpatient psychiatric programs.
He has received numerous awards and honors throughout the tri-state area, including the Top Doctor Award in 2018. Dr. Vukasin has held academic appointments and published research findings on antipsychotic medications.

I have seen other providers before. This was the first provider who wanted to diagnose me immediately and prescribe a medication within 18 mins of meeting me on a screen. I too, work in a similar field so I know this is not ordinary. I was also told there is no difference between certain disorders (that I will not mention here).
Which simply is not true or up to date information. The dr was kind enough, however, I think he should get current with continuing education courses to stay relevant. You can’t prescribe medicine to someone who may present with symptoms that may actually be because of complex trauma. More time and care needs to be put into the session, especially in an initial visit. If you’re looking for med prescription, then this is your guy, for sure.

I had a horrible appointment with this doctor. He was insensitive, flip, didn’t listen, and switched non-sensically between personal questions and strange puzzles and mind tests. After I refused to try to repeat back a lengthy story, he told me “don’t worry, even people with very high professions have trouble with that memory test”. He also questioned my reasons for going to therapy. The whole thing was bizarre and very unpleasant.

Dr Vukasin is excellent. I had seen Dr Vulkasin many years ago, but he wasn't taking my insurance. He continues to be great listener and has genuine concern on addressing your mental health.

He always overbooks his appointments, and then he makes you wait 2+ hours.. just to get a prescription refill! I left my doctor in Manhattan just because this doctor is near my house, and it was a waste of time. All I ever need is a prescription refill. If you call in for your prescription, he gives you a few days worth of medicine and sends you to a pharmacy all the way out in Jamaica just to get it. I would never recommend this doctor to anyone.

He just hurried me through as if he was seeing me for free, saying that there were too many people waiting. You need to stop booking people like crazy just to make money.

The wait time was extremely long and I had to ask for the papers to fill out after I had already been siting for 20 minutes. I believe it was just a terrible front desk staff, when I finally got to the waiting room for the doctor I was there for about 10 minutes max and he had no idea that I was even downstairs. The doctor himself listened to what I had to say which was a very nice change of pace.

He was a cool guy and definitely knew his stuff. The problem was the wait time. There wasn't even enough chairs for the people to see him and he was overbooked just like what an other reviewer mentioned.
