The role of the PMHNP is to assess, diagnose and treat the mental health needs of patients. along with mental health promotion and mental illness diagnosis and treatment across the lifespan. Treatment includes prescribing psychotropic medications, medication management and providing therapy to patients who are diagnosed with a mental health disorder or struggle with substance abuse.
