Dr. Ramay is a board certified psychiatrist by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He has been in practice for over 30 years, treating patients for a variety of different interests, including anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, ADHD, addiction, schizophrenia, as well as dementia and behavioral problems within the geriatric population. Dr. Ramay completed his residencies at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Farmington, Connecticut and at Bergen Regional Medical Center in Paramus, New Jersey. He is a distinguished fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, and is an associate professor at Ross University School of Medicine. He is also an assistant professor at St. George's University School of Medicine and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Just moved to the area and needed to find a local doctor. Setting the appointment was a of course easy. Dr. Ramay did a comprehensive intake and kept my treatment plan consistent. Had some acceptable and welcome revisions. Explained well and going to give it a shot. Great system for medical care during the pandemic era with great coverage while maintaining CDC guidelines. Excellent care.
Our meeting was short and to the point as psychiatrist appointments usually are. Dr. Ramay is wonderful and friendly. He prescribed me a medication off the bad that really worked for me off the bat and has helped with my diagnosis where I can function without it effecting me as severely as it used to. If you're thinking about treatment or starting a new medication, I would suggest speaking with him. He is open to listening to your concerns if you are opposed to certain kinds of medications.

My initial visit with the Dr. was ‘fine’- nothing extraordinary, very brief and to the point, poor eye contact and long wait. However, a lot of that I expect with psychiatry so I felt it was fine. However, the medication prescribed had no generic brands, so I denied pick up and call office to request one with a generic available. I attempted to call his office 6-7 times (leaving messages) and never received a call back in a month. Therefore I am now starting this process over to find an acceptable provider, which is not preferable as it is time consuming and impacts my well-being and stress levels. Would not recommend at all.

Definitely a pill pusher and set in his old fashioned ways. He sees most patients for 5 minutes. On my first visit, I told him I was interested in weening off my antidepressant and he told me not to do it because I would end up in the hospital and killing myself. Wow. He also claims to only take cash which is ridiculous and just allows for no paper trail. He quickly submitted exorbitant insurance claims with the wrong codes just to get more money. After meeting with him for 15 min (first appointment) we came out and the rom was filled with 5-6 people who had come in those 15 min. Unprofessional and disappointing. Would rather pay more for a better doctor. UGH
A very pleasant older man, clearly set in his ways. You can get a script in under 5 minutes which is why I do NOT advise seeing him. Again, pleasant man, not a bad guy, just another one of your classic psychiatrists who writes scripts and bills insurance, no real investigation of your problems

If you want or need help after seeing many different psychiatrist I have to say there’s no better choice and no one has more experience or knowledge thank you so much for your help!!

Signed up for psychotherapy, but I spent less than 15 minutes in the office, barely said anything, and less than halfway through he was writing me two prescriptions that I tried to refuse. I'm sure if you're referred by a psychologist he'd be great for prescribing and monitoring meds, but he did not provide psychotherapy. I've never had a confirmed diagnosis, so I was not prepared to leave with medication.
This was my first appt with Dr Ramay. Great bedside manner, an open communicator, and let me play an active role in potential therapy options. Spent a good amount of time discussing personal and family history and seemed to take detailed notes. Having tried to find someone I can actually talk to, I'm hopeful after my first visit that I finally have. The other patients in the waiting room also spoke highly of him.
I will not go to see Dr. Ramay again. I went to him for acute depression. He started me on meds that were not working. I was taking too much time off from work that I needed a medical certificate to take medical leave but he would not fill it out. I ended up going to another doctor that was willing to fill it out.
Awesome doctor. He listens carefully and understands the situation and then provides his help. Greatly helped me with marriage counseling to me and my wife. Great Doctor!!!
