Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Ugochi Diokpa is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 17 years of progressive experience providing compassionate, evidence-based healthcare across diverse clinical environments, including psychiatric hospitals, outpatient clinics, correctional healthcare facilities, medical -surgical units, and community-based settings. Her extensive background in nursing, behavioral health, and psychiatric care has shaped her into a dedicated mental health provider committed to helping individuals achieve emotional wellness, stability, and improved quality of life.
Ugochi’s journey in healthcare began with a strong foundation in nursing, earning her Licensed Vocational Nursing degree, followed by an Associate Degree in Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and ultimately a Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Walden University in 2023. Her academic preparation, combined with years of hands-on clinical experience, allows her to provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, medication management, health
promotion, and individualized treatment planning for children, adolescents, and adults.
Throughout her career, Ugochi has cared for individuals experiencing a wide range of mental health
challenges, including depression, anxiety disorders, ADHD, PTSD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, mood
disorders, and behavioral health conditions. She has developed expertise in psychiatric assessment,
psychopharmacology, medication monitoring, patient education, and collaborative treatment planning. She
believes that effective mental healthcare requires more than treating symptoms—it requires understanding
each person’s unique story, strengths, challenges, and goals.
As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Ugochi focuses on creating a safe, respectful, and
supportive environment where patients feel heard and empowered. She values building strong therapeutic
relationships with patients and families while incorporating a holistic approach that considers biological,
psychological, social, and environmental factors affecting mental health.
Her professional experience includes serving as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a psychiatrist in an outpatient clinic, providing psychiatric evaluation and treatment services for children,
adolescents, and adults. She also provided telehealth psychiatric services with Great Tower Recovery, LLC,
where she evaluates, diagnoses, and treats mental health conditions while developing personalized
treatment plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Before becoming a psychiatric provider, Ugochi gained extensive behavioral health nursing experience as a
Psychiatric Nurse Supervisor with Wellpath Recovery Solutions in Conroe, Texas.
In these roles, she provided clinical leadership, supervised nursing teams, and supported quality improvement
initiatives, coordinated patient care, and helped ensure the delivery of safe and effective psychiatric services.
Ugochi is passionate about mental health advocacy and believes education is a powerful tool in improving
outcomes. She enjoys helping patients and families better understand mental health conditions, treatment
options, and available resources. Her approach combines clinical knowledge, empathy, collaboration, and
respect for each individual’s personal journey.
Through her practice, Ugochi strives to reduce stigma surrounding mental health care and provide
accessible, patient-centered psychiatric services that promote healing, resilience, and long-term wellness.
