Nancy Harvey, LPC

Methods, philosophies, and points of distinction Therapy is not about fixing you—because you aren’t broken. It’s about understanding patterns, building insight, and learning how to respond to life and relationships in ways that feel healthier, steadier, and more aligned with who you are. I’m Nancy Harvey, a Licensed Professional Counselor, and my work focuses on helping individuals and couples navigate emotional overwhelm, relationship challenges, self-esteem concerns, and life transitions. Many of the clients I work with are capable, thoughtful people who are used to holding things together on the outside but feel exhausted, stuck, or disconnected on the inside. My approach to therapy is grounded, collaborative, and practical. I believe therapy should feel like a real conversation—one where you feel safe being honest, while also being supported in making meaningful change. I don’t rely on rigid formulas or one-size-fits-all techniques. Instead, I tailor my work to your needs, your goals, and your pace. How I Work I integrate evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), while also drawing from relational and attachment-based frameworks. This means we spend time understanding how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors interact, as well as how past experiences and relationship patterns continue to show up in your life today. Clients often describe my style as warm, direct, and thoughtful. I offer empathy and validation, but I also believe in helping you move forward with clarity and intention. Therapy with me is not about endlessly rehashing the past—it’s about gaining insight, building skills, and creating change that carries into your everyday life. Areas of Focus While I work with a broad range of concerns, I have a strong interest and background in relationship and attachment dynamics. This includes: Relationship and marital concerns Communication difficulties and conflict patterns Boundaries and emotional regulation Self-esteem and identity development Anxiety, stress, and emotional burnout Trauma and the lasting impact of past experiences Life transitions and role changes I also have experience working with teens and young adults, particularly around academic stress, family dynamics, and identity exploration. What Makes My Practice Different One of my core beliefs is that insight without action can feel frustrating, and action without understanding rarely lasts. I aim to balance both. Together, we explore why certain patterns exist while also focusing on how to shift them in realistic, sustainable ways. I’m especially mindful of working with clients who feel emotionally overloaded—whether that’s due to caregiving roles, professional demands, or long-standing habits of putting others first. Therapy becomes a space where you don’t have to perform, fix, or hold it all together. You get to slow down, reflect, and learn how to care for yourself with the same intention you often give to others. What You Can Expect In our work together, you can expect: A nonjudgmental, supportive environment Honest, thoughtful feedback Practical tools you can apply outside of session Respect for your autonomy and readiness for change A collaborative process where your voice matters Therapy is not about having the “right” answers—it’s about asking better questions and learning how to respond to yourself and your relationships with greater clarity and compassion. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply ready to understand yourself more deeply, therapy can be a powerful step forward. I’d be honored to support you in that process.
