NYPT health and rehab

NYPT Health and Rehab PLLC is a New York City–based physical therapy and rehabilitation practice dedicated to helping patients recover from pain, injury, surgery, movement limitations, and physical performance challenges through individualized, patient-centered care. Our mission is to provide high-quality rehabilitation services in a professional, supportive, and results-focused environment where every patient feels heard, understood, and actively involved in their recovery. At NYPT Health and Rehab, we believe that effective physical therapy begins with understanding the whole person, not just the diagnosis. Pain and injury can affect every part of daily life, from walking, sitting, standing, sleeping, exercising, working, traveling, and caring for family to participating in sports, recreation, and social activities. Because every patient has a different lifestyle, health history, occupation, activity level, and personal goal, we take the time to perform a thorough evaluation and develop a customized treatment plan designed around each individual’s needs. Our practice treats a wide range of orthopedic, musculoskeletal, sports-related, post-surgical, and movement-based conditions. Patients commonly seek care at NYPT Health and Rehab for neck pain, low back pain, sciatica, shoulder injuries, hip pain, knee pain, ankle and foot conditions, tendonitis, muscle strains, ligament sprains, joint stiffness, arthritis-related symptoms, postural dysfunction, gait abnormalities, balance deficits, weakness, limited mobility, and chronic pain. We also work with patients recovering from orthopedic procedures, including surgeries involving the shoulder, spine, hip, knee, ankle, and foot. Our approach is based on careful assessment, clinical reasoning, hands-on treatment, progressive exercise, functional retraining, and patient education. We aim to identify not only where symptoms are felt, but also why they may be occurring. For example, shoulder pain may be related to weakness, posture, joint mobility, repetitive work demands, or exercise mechanics. Low back pain may be influenced by hip mobility, core control, prolonged sitting, lifting mechanics, or nerve irritation. Knee pain may involve strength deficits, gait patterns, foot mechanics, balance, or training errors. By looking at the full picture, we are able to create treatment plans that address both immediate symptoms and the underlying movement limitations that may contribute to recurring issues. Patients at NYPT Health and Rehab receive individualized attention in a focused clinical environment. We understand that many patients come to physical therapy after trying to manage pain on their own, after seeing multiple providers, or after being limited by symptoms for weeks, months, or even years. Our goal is to create a clear and practical path forward. During the initial evaluation, we review the patient’s history, current symptoms, functional limitations, medical background, work demands, fitness activities, and personal recovery goals. We then assess posture, mobility, strength, flexibility, balance, gait, movement patterns, joint function, and tolerance for activity. This information helps guide a personalized plan of care. Treatment at NYPT Health and Rehab may include manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular re-education, functional training, mobility work, stretching, strengthening, balance training, gait training, postural correction, sport-specific rehabilitation, ergonomic education, and home exercise instruction. Manual therapy may be used to help improve joint mobility, decrease soft tissue restrictions, reduce pain, and support improved movement. Therapeutic exercises are selected to improve strength, flexibility, endurance, coordination, and stability. Neuromuscular re-education focuses on improving movement control, posture, balance, and activation of the right muscles at the right time. Functional training helps patients return to real-life activities such as lifting, bending, reaching, walking, climbing stairs, exercising, or performing job-specific tasks. We believe education is a critical part of recovery. Patients are taught how to better understand their condition, what activities may be contributing to symptoms, how to modify movements when needed, and how to safely progress back to normal activity. We provide guidance on posture, body mechanics, workplace ergonomics, training modifications, recovery strategies, and home exercises. Our goal is not only to help patients feel better during treatment, but also to give them the knowledge and tools they need to maintain progress outside the clinic. NYPT Health and Rehab also offers access to advanced rehabilitation technologies that may be incorporated into care when appropriate. These may include an anti-gravity treadmill, shockwave therapy, and Class IV laser therapy. The anti-gravity treadmill can be helpful for patients who need to walk, jog, or retrain gait with reduced body weight and decreased impact on the joints. This may be especially useful for patients recovering from lower extremity injuries, foot and ankle conditions, knee pain, hip pain, post-surgical restrictions, or gait dysfunction. Shockwave therapy may be used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan for certain tendon, soft tissue, and chronic pain conditions. Class IV laser therapy may be incorporated to help support pain reduction, tissue recovery, and improved tolerance for movement. These technologies are used thoughtfully and in combination with hands-on care, exercise, and functional rehabilitation. Our practice works with patients of many different backgrounds and activity levels. Some patients are athletes who want to return to training, running, skiing, CrossFit, tennis, golf, dance, or recreational sports. Others are professionals who spend long hours at a desk and are struggling with neck pain, back pain, headaches, shoulder tension, hip tightness, or postural strain. Some patients have physically demanding jobs that require prolonged standing, lifting, bending, reaching, or repetitive movement. Others are recovering from surgery, dealing with chronic pain, or trying to regain independence after an injury. No matter the starting point, we focus on helping each patient improve function and move toward meaningful goals. For active individuals and athletes, NYPT Health and Rehab emphasizes safe return to activity. We understand that being unable to exercise or participate in sports can be frustrating. Our treatment plans may include strength training, mobility work, balance and coordination drills, sport-specific movement patterns, running or gait analysis, landing mechanics, progressive loading, and education on training volume. We help patients understand how to gradually return to activity while reducing the risk of flare-ups or re-injury. For office workers and professionals, we often address issues related to prolonged sitting, computer use, travel, stress, and limited daily movement. Neck pain, lower back pain, hip stiffness, shoulder tension, and headaches can often be influenced by work habits, posture, workstation setup, and repetitive positions. Our team helps patients improve mobility, build strength, develop better movement strategies, and make realistic changes that fit into a busy schedule. For post-surgical patients, our goal is to support healing, restore mobility, rebuild strength, improve confidence, and help patients return to daily life safely. We follow the patient’s surgical precautions and rehabilitation protocol when provided, while also tailoring care to the individual’s progress and tolerance. Post-surgical rehabilitation may involve pain and swelling management, range of motion exercises, progressive strengthening, gait training, balance work, scar mobility when appropriate, functional retraining, and gradual return to work, exercise, or sport. For patients with chronic or recurring pain, NYPT Health and Rehab takes a thoughtful and comprehensive approach. Chronic pain can be complex and may involve strength deficits, mobility restrictions, nervous system sensitivity, lifestyle factors, stress, sleep, repetitive movement patterns, or previous injuries. We work with patients to build tolerance gradually, improve confidence with movement, and develop strategies for long-term management. Our goal is to help patients feel more in control of their symptoms and less limited by pain. We also recognize that physical therapy is most successful when patients feel comfortable, respected, and supported. At NYPT Health and Rehab, we strive to create a welcoming environment where patients can ask questions, share concerns, and participate in decisions about their care. We value clear communication and make every effort to explain the purpose behind each part of treatment. Patients should understand what they are doing, why they are doing it, and how it relates to their goals. Our philosophy is centered on personalized care rather than a one-size-fits-all model. Two patients may have the same diagnosis but very different symptoms, limitations, and goals. A runner with hip pain may need a different plan than an office worker with the same diagnosis. A patient recovering from surgery may require a different pace than someone managing a mild overuse injury. A patient with chronic back pain may need a different strategy than someone with an acute strain. We tailor care to each person’s condition, lifestyle, and response to treatment. NYPT Health and Rehab is committed to helping patients improve movement quality, restore strength, reduce pain, and return to the activities that matter most. We believe that rehabilitation should be active, collaborative, and empowering. While hands-on treatment and advanced modalities may help reduce symptoms and improve mobility, long-term success often comes from building strength, improving movement habits, and developing confidence in the body’s ability to recover. Patients may benefit from physical therapy at NYPT Health and Rehab if they are experiencing pain with walking, standing, sitting, lifting, bending, reaching, climbing stairs, exercising, running, sleeping, or performing work duties. They may also benefit if they feel weaker than usual, have lost mobility, are recovering from an injury, are preparing for or recovering from surgery, have difficulty returning to sports, or want to prevent symptoms from worsening. Our team understands the demands of life in New York City. Many patients have busy schedules, demanding jobs, long commutes, active lifestyles, and high expectations for their health and performance. We work to provide efficient, focused, and meaningful care that respects each patient’s time while still addressing the details that matter. Our goal is to help patients make measurable progress and feel confident in their recovery plan. At NYPT Health and Rehab PLLC, we are proud to serve the New York City community with comprehensive physical therapy and rehabilitation services. Whether a patient is dealing with a new injury, recovering after surgery, managing chronic pain, improving mobility, or working toward a specific fitness or performance goal, we are here to help guide the recovery process. We combine clinical expertise, individualized treatment, patient education, hands-on care, progressive exercise, and advanced rehabilitation technology to support each patient’s path toward better movement and improved quality of life. Our ultimate goal is simple: to help patients move better, feel stronger, reduce pain, regain confidence, and return to the activities they enjoy. At NYPT Health and Rehab, every treatment plan is built around the patient, their goals, and their ability to progress safely and effectively. We look forward to helping each patient take the next step toward recovery, wellness, and long-term physical health.

Miracle worker. I'm an extremely particular (read: pain in the neck) person and think most people have no idea what they're talking about. Richard absolutely nailed it. He understood what was going on with me faster than my therapist did :-). Can't go wrong here, just book him.

Seems really knowledgable. Did a thorough examination, took time to explain his findings and explain his recommended plan of treatment. Hopefully I can update after following up on that treatment plan and report back on my level of success.
Richard is careful in the analysis.
