Alexa Thayer is a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor in Georgia who has been practicing since 2022. She graduated from Brenau University with her Master’s in Clinical Counseling Psychology. Alexa helps clients by meeting them where they are at and focusing on their most pressing needs first. She aids clients in their therapeutic journey by utilizing a unique blend of Humanistic Talk Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Internal Family Systems Therapy. Alexa’s areas of expertise include counseling children aged 6 and up, adolescents, and adults who suffer from a variety of mental illnesses such as anxiety, depression, mood disorders, adjustment disorders, relationship and family issues, self-esteem issues, and obsessive-compulsive disorders. Alexa understands that therapy is not a one-size-fits-all and that each client is on their own unique journey and has their own unique needs. Because of this, she is not rigid in her techniques and likes to pick the therapeutic technique that will work best for each individual client. Alexa is always happy to help her clients on their therapeutic journey. Her favorite thing about counseling is watching her clients transform and grow into a healthier version of themselves. Outside of work, Alexa is an avid distance runner and ran the Atlanta Peachtree road race this past July. Her running goal for the year of 2024 is to run a half marathon. She is quite the avid gamer as well and plays a variety of PC and console games in her free time. She enjoys outdoor activities such as fishing, biking, and hiking. She also enjoys reading when she has the time and has been reading the WARRIOR CATS series since she was in middle school.
