More about Dr. Ana Wu Machuca, DPT
Ana earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Touro College. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Dance and Arts Administration from Butler University in Indiana.
She was born and raised in Lima, Peru, where she started training in classical ballet at the age of 7. After finishing her undergraduate studies she moved to NYC where she continued her dance education, performed with various dance ensembles, taught ballet, modern dance and movement workshops to children, seniors and adults. After a decade of dedicating her life to the pursuit of art in dance, she reoriented her passion for movement into becoming a physical therapist.
Ana's clinical experience includes orthopedic injury rehabilitation, sports injury treatment and prevention, pediatrics, post-operative care and pelvic rehabilitation for women's health. She believes the skills acquired during her time as a dance educator, combined with her training in manual therapy and therapeutic exercise are best effectuated in an outpatient environment. Her purpose as a therapist is to help her patients develop an effective awareness of their bodies, postural and movement patterns so as to help them heal, reach their goals and improve upon their strengths.
Her free time is spent perfecting her upper-cuts in kickboxing, taking ballet or yoga class and enjoying the company of the people she loves in the city she loves, hopefully with food they can all love together.
