Cara knew Occupational Therapy was the perfect career match for her as soon as she discovered it. Throughout her life, she has had many passions leading to working within a wide range of professions; from performing at Walt Disney World, to working in the beauty industry, as well as supporting adults with developmental disabilities as a Behavior Specialist. When Cara discovered the world of OT, and learned the heart of the profession was helping people to carry out their meaningful activities, she knew she had to pursue it!
She first obtained her BA in Psychology from the University of South Florida. Following this, she studied abroad in Scotland, where she completed her MS in Occupational Therapy. After becoming a certified and licensed Occupational Therapist, Cara began working for Hand in Hand OT of LI, PLLC in May 2021. Cara works alongside patients from all walks of life, of all ages, to develop and/or find new approaches to improve the day-to-day functioning for those living with chronic or acute conditions. To do this, Cara collaborates with her patients to focus on their strengths while finding ways to overcome obstacles they may be facing, utilizing many approaches. Cara believes that the patients she works with deserve person-centered and holistic care, from evaluation to discharge. Cara is excited to apply her wide range of experiences to provide the most effective approaches for each patient she works with.
