Hi there, I'm Catherine!
Hi, I’m Cathy Lovato, and I’m a LCSW therapist. I use a very open and positive approach to therapy. My specialties are working with females around areas of anxiety, depression, self esteem and relationship issues.
My approach
I like to use a psychodynamic approach to understand the client’s presenting issue. Then depending on the goal, I decide whether a behavioral or psychodynamic treatment would be more appropriate.
My focus
I typically work with females of all ages. My specialties are anxiety, depression, self esteem and relationship issues.
My communication style
It’s important to me that my clients feel safe, comfortable and understood. Even if they’re having a hard time, I make sure they know I’m right there with them. We are working on this together, and I believe they feel supported by me.
My journey to mental healthcare
Since I was a teenager I used to wonder what made people tick, especially my parents. This made me want to be a therapist. What drives me to do this work is my belief that it is such an honor to work with clients and for them to trust me with their innermost feelings, thoughts and struggles.
My goals for you
After I listen and understand what has brought a client in to see me, I will usually ask about their goal. I’ll then ask more questions to clarify, and together we’ll agree on a goal.
My first session with you
During a first session with me clients can expect to feel really heard, understood and supported. I will give feedback about how I believe I can help, and we will set a goal for our work together.
