She immediately grasped my physiological problems, prescribed and walked me through appropriate exercises , and made sure that I could understand them and perform them. Christina DeSimone graduated with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Springfield College in 2013. She began her professional career at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital in White Plains, New York where she worked for over six years. Over the course of her career, Christina developed a passion for treating people with neurological conditions and went on to receive her Neurologic Clinical Specialist (NCS) certification in 2019 – becoming a board-certified clinical specialist by the American Physical Therapy Association for neurological physical therapy. She is extremely detailed and organized and uses her time to pass knowledge onto aspiring physical therapists as a lab assistant at Columbia University, in the neurological condition lab. In the outpatient clinic, Christina enjoys using her vast neurological knowledge and applying it to further enhance her orthopedic treatments. She values one on one time with her clients, thoughtfully looks at each person as an individual, and ultimately loves helping patients reach their full potential.

My visit was comprehensive. Exercises covered my knees, hips and upper body. She explained how strengthening the muscles in various parts would ease discomfort in other body parts. Its the next best thing to coming to Stroma for hands on treatment.

Been to Stroma before with a femur fracture and was back in the gym in a month. Two years later, I am back with a compressed peroneal nerve - foot drop. A surgeon was advocating - what a surprise - surgery - - but got another doc to give me a PT prescription and was assigned Christina who has a PT doctorate but also am additional certificate in neurology. No surgery for me. Incredible hands - on manipulation to free the nerve, as well as other modalities. Rapid (for a nerve injury) progress. My surgeon is history. My neurologist is all smiles. I should add that Christina is not only knowledgeable, but articulate, interesting, interested and had a sense of humor. I feel safe, too, at Stroma in this time of Covid - 19.
