Dr. Christian is a psychologist licensed in New York and Connecticut, and a trained psychoanalyst with over 20 years of clinical experience helping patients with a wide range of issues, including depression, anxiety, and relationship problems.
He is on the faculty of the Psychoanalytic Association of New York (PANY), and he has taught and supervised in doctoral programs, including City College of City University, and the New School for Social Research. He has been a staff psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry at Beth Israel Medical Center and New York Methodist Hospital. Dr. Christian is the author, co-author, and co-editor of several books, book chapters, and papers in peer-reviewed journals.
He is the Dean at the Institute for Psychoanalytic Training and Research (IPTAR); the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Psychoanalytic Psychology; and a Fellow of the International Psychoanalytic Association, the oldest and largest international psychoanalytic organization, and the world's primary accrediting and regulatory body for psychoanalysis.
