Getting to know Deanna Fink
Hi there, I'm Deanna!
I’m a queer therapist who works with people navigating substance use and recovery. I also support people dealing with anxiety and depression, whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, numb, disconnected, or just not quite like yourself. You don’t have to have everything figured out to begin—just a willingness to show up as you are.
My focus
As a queer therapist, I’m especially passionate about supporting people in my LGBTQIA+ community who are navigating substance use, anxiety, depression, and recovery.
My approach
The core of my approach is warm, down to earth, and collaborative. I tailor therapy to your needs, drawing on evidence-based approaches I’m trained in to help you make meaningful changes.
My communication style
I try to be gentle, honest, and intentional with how I communicate. I want you to feel comfortable opening up, but I’ll also be direct with you when I think it could help. We can talk about the hard stuff without you feeling judged or pushed.
My journey to mental healthcare
I’m in recovery and a trauma survivor myself. My own experiences have taught me that change is possible, even when you’ve tried before and things haven’t gone the way you hoped. Progress can look like understanding why you turn to certain ways of coping, or responding differently in a hard moments when you usually pull away.
My goals for you
We’ll set goals together based on what matters to you. I’ll help you notice patterns in your thoughts, behaviors, and reactions so you can better understand yourself and make changes that feel right for you.
Our first session
In our first session, I’ll want to hear what brought you in, what you’re hoping to get out of therapy, and what goals feel important to you. I’ll also ask about any past experiences with therapy—what helped, what didn’t, and what you’d like me to know as we start working together. There’s no pressure to have it all figured out on day one.
