I had a good first impression but it is still too soon to tell. Dr. Van Houten and his assistant were thorough and paid attention to detail. Most of the appointment time was to go through my surgery and what caused it. The last 15 minutes were for the specific exercises I need to perform. Overall, I am happy with how the appointment went.

Excellent. My physical therapy required a most hands on personalized and one-on-one approach than I have previously experienced at some other 'big box' physical therapy facilities. Lake Shore and hunter have been excellent to me.

Dr. Van Houten is dedicated in providing thorough care while keeping a patient’s individual goals in mind. He has worked with many patients with post-surgical, orthopedic and neurological rehabilitation. His professional interests lie in sports medicine, manual therapy, and improving and restoring strength and function. He is a provider of Ergoscience functional capacity evaluations and an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association.Dr. Van Houten has a strong interest in athletes of all levels, offers bike fitting services, and enjoys assisting his patients in returning to their prior levels of activity.Hunter sees patients at our Lakeview and Loop locations. In Illinois, a physician's diagnosis is required before initiating physical therapy treatment and many insurance companies will require that medical necessity be established by your physician prior to covering the cost physical therapist care. Your regular physician can provide this documentation, however if you do not have a regular physician, contact us for a referral or to schedule a free, 15-minute screening for your condition to determine the next best steps.
