Joe Losurdo is the Clinical Director of SPEAR’s Upper East Side location. Joe earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from Temple University. Prior to attending Temple, he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree with a double-major in Biology and Psychology from Le Moyne College in Syracuse, NY. Joe’s clinical experience ranges from working with college and professional athletes to pediatric and geriatric populations in outpatient orthopedic settings.
Joe is committed to maximizing his patients’ rehabilitation by utilizing a “whole person” approach and believes nonsurgical management of musculoskeletal pathologies is key in helping his patients return to a healthy, fast-paced NYC lifestyle. By combining manual therapy skills, injury prevention and current evidence-based research, Joe’s patients can expect to receive the care that will allow them to achieve their functional goals.
Growing up in Syracuse, NY, Joe competed in numerous sports including football, lacrosse, and basketball. With his competitive playing days behind him, he has taken up running and now has one full marathon and several half marathons under his belt. When he’s not cheering on the New York Giants and the Syracuse Orange, Joe enjoys playing golf, traveling, and spending weekends with family and friends at the beaches of Breezy Point, NY.

Excellent physical therapist! Very knowledgable and able to answer all questions. Listens to concerns and addresses them with assurance. Also provides very good instruction during sessions and how to do at home PT exercises. Highly recommend!

Joe is excellent - I have been to him for my therapy for a few different ailments. He listens to your symptoms carefully and knows the right exercises to fix them - he is very talented. I also appreciate his polite and kind presence, always encouraging us gently to get better. He is very friendly as well, I enjoy chatting while getting ready to do exercises. I highly recommend Joe and Spear. They are very careful, disinfect everything and the site is very clean. I feel I'm in good hands!

I've been to Spear (83rd Treet) for two separate injuries over the past few years. On each occasion, Spear therapists were extremely attentive to my needs & very professional. On both occasions My therapist put together a great program to get me feeling better in no time. I highly recommend the Spear group to anyone in need of PT - Especially the 83rd street location w/ Joe!

The level of care and performance was outstanding! The exercises were tailored to my specifics and followed through with written and visual instructions. The facility is impeccable, even more so to COVID standards. Joe Lusurdo is someone I would not hesitate recommending.
