Hello, I am Johana, a bilingual licensed professional. My journey in this field began in 2011. Since starting my career, I have worked in non-profit agencies providing community services to toddlers, children, adolescents, and adults. In my experience as a mental health provider, I have worked in a multitude of programs, from preventive care to diagnosable treatment.
In 2015, I worked as a Wraparound (WRAP) Therapist with children, youth, and their families facing serious mental health challenges. Wrap is a service designed for high-risk children and adolescents; I enjoyed this type of treatment very much.
I have also focused on adult programs and providing group services in various treatments. Through this experience, I learned how multi-generational aspects can affect an individual’s, a couple’s, or a family’s present decisions.
I practice as an eclectic therapist because, although I specialize in certain approaches, I like to personalize and modify my approach according to my client’s unique needs. At times, I have just sat with clients practicing guided meditation and grounding techniques because that is what they needed at that time.
I earned my Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University, which has provided me with a strong foundation to support my diverse clinical work.
More about me: I have been in a committed relationship with my high school sweetheart for nearly twenty years, and we have a beautiful Weimaraner. Our Weim is curious and adventurous, kind of like me. Oh, and he enjoys belly rubs...I don’t. In my spare time, I like to watch psychological thrillers, comedies, take walks with my dog, use my Cricut (for all you crafters), and most of all, dance. I love to dance to every genre, but my specialty is cultural Latin music and the ’80s (my favorite).
I also love to travel, but since traveling has been affected by the pandemic, I’ve resorted to practicing mindfulness (my happy travel memories).
