Julie Risher earned her Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling from Webster University in Charleston, South Carolina, and is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She has diverse experience providing counseling to individuals, adolescents, families, and groups in a variety of settings. Julie has worked with patients facing a wide range of concerns, including depression, eating disorders, self-harm, anxiety, grief and loss, relationship issues, substance abuse, as well as trauma and abuse. Julie's approach to counseling incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and Behavioral Modification. She initially became a nurse because she wanted to be of service to others but found she didn't have enough time to truly get to know her patients. When she discovered counseling and became a therapist, she knew she had found her true calling. Julie thoroughly enjoys helping her patients while building genuine connections with them. She treats her patients with dignity and respect because they are being honest and vulnerable, and she believes they deserve that care no matter what. Julie believes anyone can overcome their challenges and looks forward to working with you to create positive solutions that foster greater freedom and self-direction in your life.
Outside of work, Julie enjoys reading mysteries, watching movies, walking, and traveling with her husband to visit their grandchildren.

Julie Risher is absolutely awesome!! I instantly felt comfortable with her and she felt like an educated friend unlike the uptight judging doctor type therapist I've had in the past that you couldn't feel comfortable enough to express yourself with. I highly recommend her!!!
