Lukas specializes in working with LGBTQ+ individuals, but also has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults who have experienced trauma. He uses an eclectic approach that will depend on your specific needs; personalized therapy techniques include, but are not limited to, trauma-informed cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, inner child healing, and exposure therapy. While the therapeutic approach may vary, Lukas fosters a safe and nonjudgmental space for you to fully be yourself so you can be seen, heard, and understood.
Coming to therapy requires an immense amount of bravery and vulnerability. Whether you are experiencing interpersonal relationship struggles, a life transition, emotional instability, or coping with a painful past, Lukas invites you into a collaborative therapeutic relationship in order to gain insight into what makes you, you. Together you will first work together to establish a trusting relationship that will allow you to develop self-awareness; from there, you can unpack and understand your pain, fears, hopes, memories, and experiences in order to tackle your current hardships and create positive change in your life.
Lukas earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from Hunter College and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from SUNY New Paltz. In addition to working in private practice, he is a clinician at a school and also has experience working in crisis counseling and an inpatient mental health clinic.
