The therapy and support of Nancy Walther has been life changing for me and my husband. Nancy is a great listener, a fair and considerate mediator, and an expert therapist with endless strategies to suggest. She also goes above and beyond to accommodate her clients when insurance companies inevitably try to decline care. We are so happy we found her and highly recommend!

More about Nancy Walther, LCADC, LCSW

I am dedicated to providing compassionate and effective therapy for individuals, couples, and families in the office and via telehealth. I am a licensed psychotherapist with over twenty-five years of experience working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families struggling with trauma, substance abuse, relationship stressors, communication issues, anxiety, depression, or general life stressors. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, and a Bachelor's degree from the State University of New York, Brockport. I have advanced training in substance abuse counseling and spent over fourteen years at Turning Point, an in-patient drug and alcohol rehabilitation center in Essex County, working with clients before they were healthy enough to return to their homes and families. This work highlighted the importance of focusing on family members and the family system surrounding individuals with mental illness. These family members often lack awareness of the complex behaviors and needs of those dealing with substance abuse and mental health issues. I became certified as a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor to better focus on this vital work. Family members are intensely connected emotionally. I have completed two multi-year training programs on internal family systems (Bowen Family Systems) and multicultural families through the Multicultural Family Institute, where I earned a Certificate in Family Therapy. For the last 12 years, I have been in private practice, offering individual, couples, and family therapy. I provide an individualized, holistic approach based on each client's unique needs. I strive to create a welcoming and supportive environment where clients feel safe sharing their inner experiences, connecting with deeper parts of themselves, and confronting the challenges they want to overcome. How you view yourself, your relationships, and the world is a starting point for our therapeutic work together.

Nancy makes you feel very comfortable and welcome. It is easy to open up during our sessions, and I feel as though she truly listens and is able to offer helpful coping mechanisms for difficult situations. I really enjoy my sessions with Nancy and highly recommend her!
Nancy Walters is a well verst professional in serving the needs of seniors who seek counseling in vast areas discussing thru life experiences that she can relate to. You walk out of your visit feeling you are being helped.
I look forward to each visit with Nancy. She has helped me to sort through the family issues that first brought me to her practice and continues to keep me on track with any issues as they arise. She is warm and understanding and actively listens and gives excellent feedback.
My sessions with Nancy Walther came at a critical point in my life. I got divorced and was estranged with my children. Therapy was the best thing for me. Nancy made me feel very comfortable. Her kind and patient non-judgmental manner made hard topics easier to address. She gave me the tools in how to deal with my kids and myself moving forward in a positive direction. Therapy is not quick. It takes a lot of time and patience, and when things fall into place it is so rewarding.
Nancy has bee a big part of my recovery. She has been the one person to always count on to be there for me. She makes me feel safe that I do not hold anything back from her because being honest is the best way to get help.
I was chatting with a friend who was just beginning the counseling process at age 59. Knowing how much I eagerly await my weekly counseling sessions with Nancy Walther, she asked me "How do you know when you have connected with the right therapist?" I told her therapy is continual work, but the right therapist is there for you as you navigate through the challenges of everyday life. Setting goals and making changes individually and in my relationships has been possible with Nancy's continual support, guidance and energy. I would recommend Nancy's fair-minded, compassionate and goal oriented style for all ages. Nancy has led me through couples therapy with my mother and individual counseling as well. Nancy is available to meet my scheduling needs, allowing for consistent meetings and reducing stress levels in between sessions. Nancy is an excellent listener and I truly look forward to our sessions. This is how I believe a person knows when they have connected with the right therapist!
I have been seeing Nancy Walther for four months after a dispute with my family. It is the first time I have ever been to a therapist. The issue is still not resolved. However, I continue to see her since she has given me insight to family dynamics and ways to cope with my situation until the family issue is finally resolved.
Nancy is compassionate, wise and patient, as well as a down to earth and solutions-oriented professional. Working with her has truly changed my life. She has guided me toward understanding my issues, stood by me during every crisis and celebrated my successes. I consider her an excellent teacher and mentor and I highly recommend her.
Nancy is truly engaged in the conversation and doesn't just listen like some therapists I've been to, but asks questions to help you try and get to the root of the problem. She also makes suggestions on a different way to view something that you hadn't thought of because maybe you are stuck in a box. Very interactive, which is essential to making progress. Some therapists I been to over the years basically sat there, listened and nodded their heads. Let's face it we are not there to just vent but to work on ourselves.
