More about Dr. Nelson Guiang, DPT
Nelson was born in Manila, Philippines, and moved to Los Angeles when he was about 10 years old. He attended Fairfax High School in Los Angeles (Go Lions!) and earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Long Beach. He then completed his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at Chapman University in Orange, CA. Nelson worked as a therapist in two outpatient clinics in Orange County for almost six years, treating triathletes, horse riders, gymnasts, baseball players, swimmers, hikers, lawyers, teamsters, and more, which made him well-rounded for the outpatient setting. His treatment philosophy is that the body is a marvel of biomechanics and that anything limiting mobility—whether strength, flexibility, or the mind-body connection—needs to be addressed with meticulous care, passion, and creativity so it can move freely again. This includes hands-on manual therapy targeting one or more of these factors and therapeutic exercises that are helpful (and sometimes fun) to get people moving their bodies as they’re meant to move. Nelson discovered his passion for Physical Therapy while volunteering at the Los Angeles County+USC hospital during the summer of his sophomore year. There, he learned what PT was all about, and with his compassion for others, he fell in love with the profession. In his free time, Nelson enjoys riding his road bike, reading and watching Star Wars, learning about various topics (investment, military history, US history, etc.), listening to music, and enjoying movies of different types.
