My approach
I enjoy using a Humanistic approach to therapy and engaging my patient’s in a supportive, genuine, and empathic manner. I have been licensed for 25 years and have been trained in many types of therapeutic approaches. I enjoy being interactive with my patients and engaging them in a humanistic manner. I have been trained and enjoy CBT, problem-solving, and supportive psychodynamic therapy. I also have training in Motivational Interviewing, EMDR, Hypnotherapy, Play therapy, and Guided Imagery.
My focus
I typically work with teenagers and adults in the capacity of an addiction specialist or psychiatric social worker
My communication style
I enjoy being socially interactive with my patients. I encourage patients to be honest and open. I try to instill confidence in my patients as well as a sense of comfort. I will go as slow or as fast as necessary to ensure that patients stay in their comfort zones.
My journey to therapy
I have tried many careers in my life: soldier, construction worker, probation counselor, etc. I chose to become a licensed therapist after meeting a lot of very good people in this field. These people became my role models. I enjoy being a therapist and assisting others in reaching their therapeutic goals.
My goals for you
I believe goal setting is one of the most important aspects of therapy. I will revisit our therapeutic goals frequently and discuss goal setting with patients as needed throughout the therapy sessions.
My first session with you
I usually focus on rapport building during my first session and on getting to know the patient and their presenting issues. For me, focusing on the patient's comfort level and confidence starting from the first session is important and encouraged.
