Hi there, I'm Paul!
Paul Ostrom, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), has over a decade of experience treating addictions and severe mental illness. Paul specializes in EMDR and Team CBT but uses a variety of techniques to help the client overcome their challenges to create a better life. Paul has worked with a range of adults, from those experiencing homelessness to business professionals.
My approach
I used evidence-based practices, which include CBT, EMDR, and Motivational Interviewing.
My focus
From my background, I've worked with veterans, people experiencing homelessness, and the LGBTQ+ community. My clients typically have co-occurring disorders, which means severe mental illness and a substance use disorder.
My communication style
I'm a strengths-based therapist. That means I focus on what you do well and help use those skills to improve other areas of your life.
My journey to therapy
I wanted to be a therapist since high school because my passion is to help others.
My goals for you
I collaborate with the client to set appropriate goals. I think the client is the expert in their own lives and my role is to help clarify the goals and help identify the next actionable next step to reach those goals.
My first session with you
In the first session, I focus on building rapport and clarifying the treatment goals.
