Preston Jones M. Ed. LPC, CPCS has accumulated 12 years of experience in clinical counseling and 15 years in education. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice in 2003 from Lincoln University. Following this, Preston gained experience working with at-risk youth in Detention Centers and Residential Facilities, including Vision Quest, Pennsylvania Clinical Schools, and Devereux Georgia. During this time, he provided research-based interventions for youth and students experiencing a wide range of diagnoses and disabilities aimed at mental and behavioral rehabilitation. The experience Preston gained while working in these settings revealed a natural connection to the counseling field, which encouraged him to pursue two master’s degrees. He earned a Master’s in School Counseling in 2009 from Wilmington University and a Master’s in Special Education in 2013 from the University of West Georgia.
Since earning his degrees, Preston has worked as a Community Counselor (Supervised Therapist) and concurrently as a Special Education Teacher. He developed expertise in clinical modalities, assessments, and directed treatment. He has applied Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Person-Centered approaches, and Brief Therapy to treat multiple diagnoses such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety, Depression, Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder, Stress Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and Suicidal Ideations. In 2015, Preston became a School Counselor, continuing his collaboration with parents, teachers, students, probation officers, social workers, psychologists, and other team members to provide appropriate school-to-home interventions. He became a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2018.
