Dr. Rob Piccarillo, a Brooklyn native, earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree in 2002 from New York University. Upon graduation, he started his career at a specialized sports orthopedic clinic in NYC where he completed an orthopedic residency program and eventually accepted a position as a staff Physical Therapist. Rob was fortunate to work with high-level athletes including members of the NY Knicks and Rangers, dancers with the NYC ballet, various types of artists and performers as well as 9/11 first responders. He participated in collecting data for hip arthroscopy inclusion studies with Hospital for Special Surgery and helped develop new post-operative rehab protocols. It was here that Rob chose to and became enamored with Orthopedics as a specialty. Rob continued his career in Florida where he worked at the West Boca Medical Center for 12 years, becoming employee of the year in 2014 and assistant Rehab Director while continuing his practice in both acute and outpatient orthopedics from pediatrics to adults. He has served as a Clinical Instructor to many future Physical Therapists. In Boca Raton, Rob had the opportunity to lead on site medical personnel during junior tennis tournaments hosted by the Evert Tennis Academy and the USTA. Upon moving back to NJ to be closer to family, he joined the Rothman Institute in 2018 to and has had the pleasure to work with a varied patient population and top surgeons. He has developed a particular interest in return to play criteria and prevention of re-injury in the athletic population. Particular interests include fitness and running, sports – especially hockey, soccer and tennis. Rob is also a very serious guitar player and is the father to two older teenage boys and husband to the best wife and veterinarian in the world.
