Dr. Shanon Fronek is a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy with over 8 years of experience in orthopaedics and sports medicine. She has worked with amateur to collegiate and elite level athletes in the NBA. She has completed advanced sports residency training in Division I athletics and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. She is also fellowship trained in orthopaedic manual physical therapy holding certifications in dry needling, spinal and extremity manipulation, instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, and cupping. She maintains additional certifications in basketball training process optimization, blood flow restriction (BFR) training, Functional Movement Screen, and is a credentialed clinical instructor.
Shanon specializes in the management of orthopaedic injuries in team sport athletes including muscle strains, tendon injuries, ankle sprains, and long-term post operative rehab (ie, ACL, rotator cuff). Her varied clinical experience has taught her the importance of co-creating a rehab plan with the patient/athlete and involving key stakeholders when appropriate. “I reverse engineer the rehab process individualizing your plan based on your goals. I address global factors throughout the entire body that may contribute to your injury and impede your recovery and performance.” Her time working in the NBA has taught her how to get athletes back to doing the things they love as quickly and as safely as possible. Her passion for athletics carries over into her free time providing medical coverage at athletic events, participating in recreational leagues, and attending games as a spectator.
