Dr. Anthony Mendez was born and raised in South Texas. He graduated from Sam Houston State University with a degree in Biology. He attended the University of Texas in Austin to complete his teaching credentials, and taught public school for 5 years. He moved on to work for the Texas Education Agency (TEA), and completed a Masters Degree at Texas State University.
As Dr. Mendez contemplated his next educational advancement, he chose to follow his love of medicine and focused on dental health care. Dr. Mendez graduated from Baylor College of Dentistry with a degree in Doctor of Dental Surgery.
Dr. Mendez was elected vice president of his class during his junior and senior years at Baylor, and vice president of the student body during his senior year. Dr. Mendez remained in Dallas to practice dentistry for three years before returning to Austin.
Dr. Mendez acquired his practice from retiring dentist, Dr. Edgar Harris. Dr. Mendez is a member of the Capital Area Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, and the American Dental Association. Dr. Mendez is also a member of the Austin chapter of the Seattle Study Club for dental health professionals. Dr. Mendez strives to maintain the most current and leading edge of knowledge and techniques for his practice. Although the state only requires 12 hours of continuing education per year, Dr. Mendez usually attends about 100 hours of continuing education a year. Dr. Mendez enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, taking vacations, and hiking with the family dogs, Scruffy Bob and Aussie.
