Literally the best experience with a dental appointment I've ever had in my life. She and everyone who works in her office are so amazing. She's really thorough but also gentle with your teeth. This was the least uncomfortable cleaning I've ever gotten -- usually I'm in a lot of pain/my gums are bleeding when they hack at my teeth with the metal tools, but not with Dr. Akhavan. She also carefully explained everything she was doing and I feel like I really understood what she was telling me about my teeth. I will recommend her to everyone.

As a gentle, caring and dedicated practitioner, Dr. Akhavan places her patients at the center of her dentistry. She sees her role as a health provider above all else.
Trained and inspired by some of the best academic and clinical faculty in North America, Dr. Akhavan is proud to have graduated with a B.Sc. from McGill University (Montreal, Canada) and to have earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Dental Surgery, rated the best dental school in the US. After her studies, she completed a General Practice Residency at the Manhattan Veterans Administration Hospital.
Dr. Akhavan is a firm believer in staying on top of new materials and techniques in the rapidly evolving dental field. She is a member of the American Dental Association, the New York State Dental Association, and Psi Omega Dental Fraternity.

Dr. Akhavan is by far the best dentist I've ever seen. She clearly cares about her patients and is super thorough. She and her staff are incredibly friendly and I never have to wait. She takes the time to clearly explain things and show you what's going on with your teeth. She also is the first dentist who has ever successfully gotten me to floss regularly.
I can honestly say I enjoy going to the dentist now!

I have been a patient for over three years. Dr. Akhavan is a wonderful dentist. She is attentive and thoughtful and takes time to answer questions. Her hands are gentle. She tracks progress from visit to visit, including things like gum recession and jaw sounds which I wouldn't have known to ask about. Her staff is very professional and appointments and insurance issues are managed so that I realize I never have to think about it. (I'm fortunate that Dr. Akhavan is in-network for my insurance). I can't recommend her enough.

I have never had as good of an experience with a dentist as I did with Dr. Akhavan. Extremely patient, attentive and caring. Took time to explain everything she was doing to me and answer all my questions (even about matters unrelated to my own dental care).
