Dr. Burton Schechter was awarded his D.D.S. degree from the NYU School of Dentistry. Following a surgical internship at Mt. Sanai Hospital he returned to NYU for a post- doctoral program in prosthetics culminating in a M.S. (Master of Science)degree. In the following years Dr. Schechter taught prosthetics on the NYU faculty as well a number of NYC hospitals. He was the prosthodontist on the Montefiore Cleft Palate Team and wrote 5 articles published in the scientific literature.
In his practice Dr. Schechter's concentration is on porcelain veneers and bonding, implants and tooth whitening. In addition he offers Invisalign and a complete range of general dental services including root canal, periodontic and all restorative procedures.
Dr. Schechter's philosophy of dentistry is simple:
1. Don't hurt patients
2. Strive for excellence in the work
3. Utilize patients insurance wherever possible
4. Treat patients as you would close family

Recently saw Dr. Schechter for the first time. He and the staff were very kind and the appointment went smoothly. Their office is a quite dated but they may be relocating to an updated facility soon.

Dr. Schechter is very nice and experienced, but I recommend him for cleanings, not dental work. I recently had a filling done by him and it left me with pain. I had to go to a different dentist to address the issue. He is a great guy with a wonderful bedside manner, but I will be going elsewhere in the future.

Nice and friendly, but he was only interested in not running behind on his schedule, and was not happy with the insurance type. Wouldn't do a full cleaning, with the excuse that there wasn't much to do!

Dr. Schechter is very friendly and pleasant to be around. He places you at ease and works on your teeth himself. That said, I felt as though the visit was not thorough enough, and that the doctor should place more importance on preventive health than on fixing what is currently broken. I had to request that x-rays be taken and all I left with was a cleaning. Shortly after, the tooth I was complaining about cracked, another tooth chipped, and I believe a cavity has come in.

Dr. Schechter is suuuuper nice. My problem is that I filled out my forms online and they received them but made me fill out the same forms again. Also, two mins into my exam he was trying to sell me on whitening. When I asked him how safe it was he handed me a two page FAQ doc.
I came for a cleaning and all he did was X-rays and said I had to come back for the cleaning and a filling. As I said, super nice but I spent 30 mins hearing about the wonders of whitening.

Dr. Schechter is always on time, king & a very good caring dentist. He explains what he is going to do before he gets started. He does wonderful work & I always leave his office in the best mood. He is very competent. I have been coming to him for over 15 years.
