Dr. Nahm was very friendly, attentive, and patiently explained the whole process. I also appreciated that he also carefully advised me against unnecessary procedures and costs - for example, he asked me to email him a copy of my most recent xray (from previous doctor) instead of making me do a new one. He really took his time to do a thorough cleaning and examination and seemed really dedicated overall.

Dr. Byung Joo Nahm is truly a wonderful professional. Throughout the entire experience, Dr. Nahm was kind, patient, and thorough. He answered all of my questions in a way I could understand and taught me better ways to brush and floss my teeth. He even showed me something interesting about my jaw. When I told him I have a slight pain in my jaw, he became genuinely concerned. I was slightly taken aback by his response, never having expected or experienced a doctor react in such a way to my pain. He then took the time to pinpoint my pain and then explain why I might be feeling it. Overall, the appointment was efficient but never rushed (I was there for a general check-up/cleaning). His assistant Erica was also great and made me feel comfortable, as I had not been to a dentist's in years. This is all depsite the fact that I have poor health insurance. Dr. Nahm was aware of my situation and told me not to worry about it, reassuring me I'd receive a high-quality check-up -- which I did -- and that if additional services were required (e.g. fillings) he would let me know in advance. However, as I was leaving, Dr. Nahm showed his true kindness. Because of misalignment in my jaw, he recommended a custom-shaped mouthguard. When I asked him the price, he told me that they can be expensive. As I was creating my next appointment in 6 months with the secretary at the front, he came over and told her to try and put in a claim for a mouthguard, even though he didn't think it would be approved by my insurance company. It was the unsolicited effort that touched me. It showed me that Dr. Nahm really does care, and all of these other reviews were praising him were coming from the same place. I never did think that going to the dentist's office could be informative, and dare I say -- fun! Thank you, Dr. Nahm.

Dr. Byung Joo Nahm was excellent. I was a new patient, so he did the cleaning himself. He explained everything he was doing and was much more meticulous than I'd experienced with other dentists. He had great bedside manner and answered all my questions. Specifically, he did several things I really liked:
1 - He only recommended x-rays every 2 years, so I know he's following guidelines even though he could bill for x-rays every year like some other dentists do.
2 - I did not have x-rays from my previous dentist, so he did take some, and he used the x-rays to locate calcified plaques and cleaned them off very meticulously.
3 - He let me know what he was seeing as he did his exam. He noted the bottom left quadrant of my mouth had a bit more plaque than the other quadrants. I have a timed toothbrush that is meant to be used 30 seconds on each quadrant. The bottom left quadrant is the last quadrant I clean, so I now know to switch up the order in which i brush the quadrants so I don't get as much plaque buildup.
3 - He found a very small cavity similar to a previous cavity I'd had. He was able to show me with a mirror where the cavity was as well as the previous filling I had, which I appreciated. He gave me an honest opinion and let me know I didn't need to have it treated immediately if I didn't want to, and he also looked up what it would cost with my insurance so I was able to make an informed decision.
Overall, super happy with my care. Staff were kind and friendly. Office was nice and clean.

Dr. Nahm was great! Between COVID and being pregnant, I was a bit nervous going to the dentist but I felt safe/clean from check-in through my appointment. I've had so many issues with dentists over the years being focused on selling me things (i.e. treatments I didn't need, fillings I didn't need etc) and felt that Dr. Nahm was focused (correctly) on appropriate care and managing risk. Highly recommend and ecstatic to have found a dentist in Boston/Cambridge!

My wife found him after some dedicated research and I can see why he is so highly rated. Had some tooth pain after seeing another previous dentist and he diagnosed and fixed it right away, and he still complemented the other dentist on other parts of their management... very professional! As a resident physician myself, I have to complement his diagnostic reasoning while having outstanding bedside as he explained what he thought and did so conversationally. I would try to model my bedside in like manner. Couldn’t recommend him and his staff enough.

From just a quick oral examination, Dr. Nahm was able to infer a surprising amount about my dental history despite my being a first-time patient with him. He is a great resource for asking questions and is eager to
share his dental knowledge with you. During my routine cleaning, he patiently explained what he was doing and what he saw in each area of my mouth. The wealth of feedback was a refreshing change from the silent, non-interactive cleanings that I typically associate with dentists. I left Dr. Nahm's office equipped with new knowledge regarding my teeth and I look forward to my next appointment with him!

Dr. Nahm was very friendly and thorough and made sure to do the cleaning in a way that didn’t hurt. I did feel like he was recommending a lot of unnecessary interventions but unfortunately that seems to be the norm and I was able to decline them.

Dr Byung Joo Nham is great! Had a medical diagnosis and problem sorted out right away. He's really attentive and precise with the information that he relays to you. Dr. Nahm had the best bedside manner of any dentist I've visited. He narrated the purpose of each part of the cleaning and gave feedback on my oral health and what I might need to look out for in the future. He was also quite friendly and I got the sense he would have been happy to take extra time if I had had additional questions or concerns.
