Dr. Carmen Ruth began her dental career as a Dental Assistant; she believes dental wellness extends far beyond the dental chair. She is passionate about dental wellness education, with an emphasis on the importance of maintaining good oral care and the role it plays in our overall health and wellbeing. Dr. Ruth assists her patients with making decisions that will result in looking and feeling their best. She strives to meet every patients’ needs by providing an environment of comfort and professionalism. Her warm, compassionate nature reduces the dental anxiety so many patients experience.
Dr. Ruth continued her education at Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry in Nashville, TN where she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Dr. Ruth was a recipient of the National Dental Association Foundation Colgate-Palmolive Scholarship & Dr. Philip A. Wink Delta Dental of Tennessee Endowed Scholarship.
Dr. Ruth’s areas of dental proficiency include comprehensive and preventive dentistry, removable full and partial dentures, crowns and bridges, fillings and extractions. She is a member of the American Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Ruth has been involved in community outreach programs and services. She took part in a mission trip to rural communities of Jamaica, providing much needed dental care and oral hygiene education. She provided oral healthcare to the underserved population. Dr. Ruth has also volunteered her time and skills to Children’s Health Day, providing dental cleanings to elementary school students.
When she is not in the office or volunteering her time to special interests, Dr. Ruth enjoys spending time with her family, trying new eateries and traveling.

Horrible customer service they waited two months to contact me after booking on zocdoc. Clearly had no intention of committing to the appointment.

The dentist was absolutely lovely, as was the hygienist. They saw me right away and were able to fit me in the next day for several fillings. I don't enjoy going to the dentist, but I enjoyed my visit as much as possible with Dr.Ruth!!

They were incredibly thorough with the x-rays, meticulously explaining each step so that I fully understood the condition of my teeth. I hadn’t been to the dentist in quite a while—partly because my previous dentist moved offices, and I also relocated to Charles County. I was honestly a bit embarrassed walking in, but the entire team made me feel so welcome. The staff was incredibly kind, and Dr. Ruth was amazing! She was warm, friendly, and took the time to answer all of my questions without making me feel rushed or judged. She even did my cleaning herself and created a treatment plan that made sense for me. I left feeling relieved, informed, and well taken care of. I’m actually looking forward to my next visit—something I never thought I’d say about the dentist!

I was escorted to take my X-rays, and the dentist walked me through my assessment and provided feedback on my care and the next steps for treatment.

I have always been afraid of the dentist. I had nothing but terrible experiences growing up, and I knew I was going to need a lot of work done.
Dr. Ruth and her ENTIRE team not only made sure I was comfortable, but really explained what services I needed, and that there shouldn’t be any shame.
I’m actually looking forward to my next appointment. Simply because I’m receiving the type of care and medical attention I deserve.
