More about Dr. Gary Westerman, DMD
Dr. Westerman has practiced dentistry in his home office for over 25 years. He works seamlessly with his hygienists, Wanda and Corina, to provide exceptional dental care, and sees every patient with an appointment, every day. Corina is only in the office on Thursdays, and Wanda sees patients on all other days.
Dr. Westerman graduated from Colby College with a BA in Biochemistry and Math-Economics, and received his dental DMD degree from the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He is a member of many professional, dental organizations, and has served as the Dental Director at two facilities in Southbury – the Lutheran Home and Pomperaug Woods. He has enjoyed visiting the Region 15 elementary schools every year of his career to give a presentation for Children’s Dental Health Month (To quote Art Linkletter, “kids say the darndest things!”).
Continuing education has always been a passion for Dr. Westerman. He is an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry, a national organization committed to continuing education. He earned his Fellowship in 1998 and is getting close to achieving Mastership, the highest level of achievement. One of his favorite aspects of dentistry is taking time to get to know his patients, treating them as neighbors, family and friends, and not just mouths. He lives at his home office with his wife, Anne, and has two grown sons, Kenny and Brian. On days off, he may be seen around town jogging with Maddie, their energetic Chocolate Labrador. Now that his days of working with Boy Scouts and coaching youth sports are over, he has more time for leisure activities, such as photography and guitar, fitness, hiking, golf and skiing.
