Beautiful office! I was so impressed from the moment I walked in the door. Everyone was extremely professional - they went above and beyond to make sure I had a comfortable and well-informed experience. Jason has a great beside manner and made a real effort to get to know me. I will definitely be going back and highly recommend him to friends and colleagues in the loop.

Overall I was not pleased with my experience with Dr. McDonald. While his bedside manner is very nice and the work they do is high quality, there is something about this practice that seems off regarding their pricing.
I went in for a routine cleaning and once I was in my chair they gave me a quote that I would have to pay out of pocket. I have never had to pay out of pocket for a cleaning and my insurance hasn't changed in years. Their quote was much higher then anything I had paid at any previous dentist visit and I told them I was not comfortable paying that much on my fist visit. I rescheduled the cleaning and when I came back they gave me a different price from their original quote. I got the cleaning, paid, and a month later I received a bill in the mail saying I owed them more money.
This is the first time I have been to a dentist that felt like they were trying to nickel and dime me. It's no wonder why their office has such a beautiful view. The office has great bedside manner (which I really appreciate) but the way they manage billing makes seems unprofessional. I would suggest going somewhere else.

No personal touch, whatsoever. Doctor was rushing things. I came in for a cleaning, he proceeded making x rays not really asking me whether I wanted that or not.

Great experience! I was impressed with the young man's chair side manner for some difficult dental issues. He was always checking to make sure I understood and wasn't in any discomfort. Professional and swift as well.

I thought I needed a root canal. Instead we worked constantly to avoid that and place a crown. Then established a comprehensive schedule to repair/upgrade other fillings. Overall great treatment.

Dr. McDonald is an amazing dentist. He is so kind and understanding. I can't say enough good things about him. Once, I had such bad pain, I had to call him at 10:30pm on a Friday night. I left a message for him and he called back within 5 minutes. He called in a prescription for antibiotics and by 11:30pm, I was feeling much better. I don't know any other dentist that would have done that for their patient.

Initially I was really put off by the staff. I had a technician take X-rays and then try to sell me braces after I repeated said I wasn't interested; it was rather pushy and made me question if I made the right choice. I've had great teeth since I was young (never wore braces) and was told repeatedly by other dentists that despite having slightly crooked bottom teeth, braces weren't necessary. However, once Dr. McDonald got to work all of my initial hesitations and concerns were gone. Dr. McDonald made me very comfortable. He explained everything he was doing and had solutions for all of the dental issues I was experiencing. The staff that I dealt with when leaving was really great too. They explained all charges and did everything they could to ensure my insurance covered the expenses. I look forward to going back to Dr. McDonald in the future!

I love this practice. The receptionist was extremely friendly and offered to take my coat and get me water. The hygienist, Susan, was also very nice and remembered my husband who had been in a few weeks before. Dr. McDonald was so personable and knowledgeable. Both he and Susan took more time with me than I'm used to, even for a first-time visit. Overall, this is a great practice; enjoy the clean, modern decor and professional, friendly staff. Oh and a bonus - great views of Grant Park.

Absolutely LOVED my visit with Dr McDonald. I knew he would be good because of the great reviews on here but he was even better than I anticipated. First off, the office is on the 18th floor with a beautiful view of Lake Michigan and Millenium Park from the patient chair!! Dr McDonald always does the first cleaning so that he can get to know his patients. He was very knowledgeable and very patient/detailed with his explanations of my xrays. The office staff was very welcoming and offered to hang up my jacket and get me a bottle of water when I arrived. Dr. McDonald is very personable and even spotted some periodontal concerns that I'm getting referred to see a specialist for. I highly recommend him!!

I absolutely loathe the dentist, but this was easily the best experience I've ever had (even WITH the news that I need a crown). I didn't feel rushed, I didn't have multiple hygienists doing all the work with a quick 2 minute pop-in from the dentist, he was there the entire time, talked me through absolutely everything, made recommendations, etc. On top of the great personal experience, the office is beautiful, very clean, and the staff were SO friendly and seemed very relaxed and happy to be there. I can't recommend him enough!

I am extremely impressed! The front desk admin greeted me by name and offered me a beverage, I waited for less than 5 minutes, the hygienist that walked me back was super friendly, and Dr. McDonald himself was by my side within 2 minutes of me sitting in the exam chair. He sat down across from me and chatted with me for almost 5 minutes, as if he were actually trying to get to know me: we talked about school, taking Board/Bar exams, trips to visit family, my upcoming wedding, etc. He had reviewed my medical information (I still don't know how he did it in the less than 5 minutes from when I turned in the paperwork to when he sat down!), asked further details on the information I had given, and then in detail described what he was planning on doing during my visit. Then he took x-rays, took actual photographs of my mouth (I'd never seen that done before!), tested my gums, and then personally sat down and power washed, scraped, brushed, and flossed my teeth. He finished with a flouride treatment that he first went and personally made sure was covered by my insurance, and then sent me home with a goody-bag (coffee mug, nice toothbrush, 2 tubes of toothpaste, the special floss he used on me bc my teeth are very close together, and coupons for "bridal" treatments like whitening, facials, etc). The check-out girls were also extremely pleasant, and I left with my eyebrows raised at what a polished, professional, thorough, and personalized experience I'd had. That afternoon, they sent a follow-up email thanking me for my visit and reminding me of my next appointment. And just yesterday, I received a HAND-WRITTEN, personal thank you card from Dr. McDonald himself, referencing the trip I had told him I was taking the weekend after my appointment (that's how I know it was from him personally, and not just an admin that wrote it). I am absolutely blown away at the level of PERSONAL attention and care that I feel I got from Dr. McDonald. He personally spent well over an hour and a half with me, giving me his undivided attention, just for a cleaning and check-up! I have never experienced this level of care from a dentist before, and I absolutely recommend him!
