A native of Texas City, Texas, Dr. Schmidt has been setting the highest standards of excellence in dentistry for nearly 30 years! An esteemed member of the dental community, he is a graduate of prestigious academic institutions, such as the University of Texas and the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, the top dental program in the nation.Dr. Schmidt graduated in the top 10% of his class, earning a Doctorate in Dental Science with high honors. He also completed additional training in general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics and orthodontics.
Dr. Schmidt is also a graduate of the prestigious Rosenthal Institute for cosmetic dentistry in Manhattan, NY and the Pankey Institute in Key Biscayne, Florida. The Pankey Institute is the most highly acclaimed dental continuing education facility in the world. The primary concepts taught are principles of conservative comprehensive dentistry, including advanced anterior esthetics, comprehensive esthetic reconstruction, neuromuscular occlusion, and full mouth reconstruction/rehabilitation. He has followed these principles, always putting the patient's needs first and providing these needs at the appropriate times.
To stay up to date with the latest advancements and techniques in the field of dentistry, Dr. Schmidt has taken hundreds of continuing education hours. He is also a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry an active member in the American Dental Association and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He was a founding board member of the Central Texas Chapter of the Academy of General Dentistry, and held that board position for 25 years.
Outside the office, Dr. Schmidt enjoys giving back to his community by participating in community programs like the Boy Scouts of Americ

Crowns are never fun but he talks you through it and makes sure you are comfy and calm. His staff is always delightful too. I totally trust him. He is very efficient and gets you through it quickly and professionally. Very kind demeanor also.

As always, Dr. Schmidt's front office staff greeted me by name as soon as I walked in. The wait was very short for a busy Monday morning. The dental assistant was courteous, professional and made me feel like I was in very capable hands. When Dr. Schmidt came to to take care of me, he was pleasant and friendly. He is a great dentist and I always feel like I receive expert care. I'm never there longer than I need to be, but never rushed off.

The dental hygienist gave me the most thorough cleaning I have ever had. I came in to do the zoom whitening treatment and almost decided that I didn't need it after the cleaning. I am glad I went through with the zoom. The results were amazing. The dental assistant that applied the barrier did a great job as I only felt a few "zings" now and again. The doctor was very kind and performed a short but detailed exam before I got started. I would highly recommend the staff here and plan to use them for all my dental needs in the future.

Unfortunately someone dropped the ball and I had to wait several weeks longer than I needed to with an exposed root for a temp cap on my back tooth. I was told they were checking on the cap repeatedly and then finally that it had been ready and unsure why it didn't get shipped. The experience was not good and left a lasting impression on me.
