I am Dr. Liyen Keen, the owner and practicing family dentist of River Park Dental Center. I am a 2001 graduate of the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston Dental Branch, and have been practicing as a general dentist since then. On June 26, 2005, we celebrated the culmination of all my hard work with the grand opening of River Park Dental Center.
My vision is to build a family of patients based on honesty, trust, and respect.
I believe that it is the responsibility of a health care professional to promote open communication with the patients. I encourage my patients to ask questions and am open to discussions about diagnosis and treatment, so that they can make an informed decision about their oral care.
Dentistry is a constantly evolving field with new materials, techniques, and procedures. In order to provide our patients with the latest in what dentistry has to offer, I have taken over 500 hours of Continuing Education. My staff attends meetings and events so that they, too, keep abreast of what is new in dentistry.
Aside from dental knowledge, other aspects of my life affect how I practice dentistry. My parents are Taiwanese and I was born in Brazil, so I am fluent in Taiwanese and Portuguese. We have many patients that feel comfortable at my practice because I can explain procedures to them in their native language. I also enjoy very much meeting people of different walks of life, backgrounds, and cultures, and love to visit with my patients. The friendly and comfortable relationship that I have with my patients and my ability to help them is what makes dentistry, for me, such a wonderful profession.

Another very pleasant visit with Dr. Keen and her staff! Received a deep gum clean and a filling and experienced basically no discomfort. All the staff were very friendly! Right when I got there I didn't have to wait at all. Helpful tip: fill out their paperwork online beforehand it will save you time.
Dr. Keen was very friendly and patient, she took the time to explain procedures and best practices to help maintain or prevent issues under your circumstances. She really took the time to listen to me and make sure what I wanted to be done was taken care of. You can really tell she cares about her patients and works hard to give you awesome results.
Overall, if you're looking for a new dentist whether it's just for a teeth cleaning or filling a cavity... You should try Dr. Keen!

I went in as a first time patient for a filling and a deep clean. I had to get my entire mouth numbed with a series of 10+ shots (one side first, then the other side). However, this was very easily the most pleasant dentist appointment I've ever had, and I've gone through some crazy dental work in the past. It took my previous unfriendly dentist 8 appointments to complete 2 root canals/crown fittings, and she showed her frustration with my case the entire time.
Dr. Keen and the staff at River Park Dental are extremely personable and friendly, and they walked me through every detail of the process so that there was no guessing what was going to happen. I'm very excited to say that I finally found a dentist I can look forward to visiting!

Made mistakes with my insurance; they had their payment mailed to me instead of them. Their estimated amount I owed was incorrect and and I paid way more than was told.

Dr. Liyen is an excellent professional. She has a conservative approach when dealing with the problem, and try to keep the original structure of the tooth. She really cares about her patients and their concerns.
