Dr Fujishige is one of the founders of New York Dental Group. He was born and raised on Maui and fled Hawaii to the scenic flat plains of Illinois, where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Illinois in Chicago in 1985. He returned to Hawaii and practiced general dentistry until 2004. He headed east a second time to New York City, where he has practiced general and cosmetic dentistry since.
His main emphasis for the practice is to provide a thorough comprehensive diagnosis and to deliver the most therapeutic comfortable treatment. Since the practice welcomes a diverse patient pool, our treatment modalities are tailored accordingly.
He enjoys ultra distance sports and has completed Ironman Triathlons in New Zealand, Austria, and Lake Placid, and ran marathons in Chicago, Honolulu, and New York City. He plans on running the 2014 New York City Marathon despite recovering from a strained soleus: "My current exercise is walking/hobbling the dogs in Central Park and going to the gym."

By far the best experience I have ever had at a dentist. I was early by 15 minutes and they saw me right away which was unexpected. I walked in and the two people at the front were immediately welcoming and introduced themselves to me as I was a new patient. When I got in the back, everyone was so kind, nice, and reassuring. When Dr. Fujishige came back he was also very kind and thorough - explaining everything to me. You can tell he is genuinely a nice person because whenever he asked his team for anything he always said please and thank you, and gave them praise multiple times throughout my visit. 100% would recommend to any and everyone.

LONG VERSION
I literally came in and was taken care of right away. The recommendation to complete the forms online really did make a difference, so thank you! I had my teeth cleaned by one of the women who worked in the office (Elle I think?), which was very well done. My teeth feel nice and clean, and they needed it. Then I was x-rayed by Vlad, who was also very professional (and likes Terminator). That was followed by a thorough checkup by Dr. Fujishige. He is extremely professional and very thorough. He took a few pictures of some teeth he wanted to "study later". I found that to be incredible that he showed interest in me as a patient. He also gave me pointers and suggestions on how to keep my teeth cleaned and was eager to take question. Would definitely recommend!

This is by far the best dentist's office I have ever been to. The office staff are friendly and show that they care. The hygienist (Estrella) was professional & skilled. She took the time to provide information & made me feel at ease. Dr Fujishige was exceptionally caring. He provided a thorough treatment plan which I'm actually looking forward to (and I have always hated & avoided going to the dentist - which is why I need such an extensive treatment!) I only wish I had found this office sooner.

I highly recommend Dr. Fujishige. I have seen various dentists over the years as I have moved cities and changed insurances. I always loathe finding a new dentist because it's so hard to find a good one. I was super impressed with Dr. Fujishige on every level. First and foremost he explained everything he was doing along the way, even offering to show me my x-rays and go through them with me personally. He also personally did my dental cleaning, taking a ton of care and spending extra time with me since I hadn't been to a dentist in over a year.

Every single doctor, hygienist, and physicians assistant was amazing. Everyone was very friendly and made sure I understood everything that was going on. They were even super patient as getting x-rays of my small mouth was quite difficult.

He is very professional, but I'm still not clear about what my treatment plan is...maybe this is because I have some complicated problems with my wisdom teeth and molars. He has a nice smile and gives you plenty of chances to talk, which is better than what I've encountered before. I look forward to having his office work on me again. They're clean and modern, which is great. Very friendly and kind staff.

My visit was awesome! Dr. Neal Fujishige was personable and forthcoming about my dental care. The Doctor took the time to answer all of my questions and concerns. I loved the hygienst she was gentle and thorough. The staff was on point.

Was seen right away. Fill out those forms online to save yourself time in the office! Dr. Fujishige's bedside manner is fabulous - this was a regular maintenance visit, and I didn't have to get any work done, but wouldn't hesitate to go back if I needed more than just a routine cleaning.
On that note, the 4 stars go to his staff that did most of the routine work (cleaning, x-rays, etc). No complaints at all - they were very courteous, but more of an average experience on that front. Will be coming back in 6 months though!
