A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Dr. Tien, received a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University in 1999. He then enriched his interest in Biochemical Engineering Research and received a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University in 2000, before pursuing a career in dentistry. He received his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from the University of Maryland, Baltimore in 2005, graduating in the top third of his class.
Dr. Tien also completed a one-year accredited facial cosmetic surgery fellowship at the prestigious Institute of Facial and Cosmetic Surgery in Salt Lake City, Utah. Dr. Tien performs both traditional oral surgery and facial cosmetics procedures such as botox and filler, blepharoplasty, hair transplantation and scar revision. He currently holds attending privileges at Medstar Washington Hospital Center. He is board certified in both Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as well as Facial Cosmetic Surgery and a member of many professional organizations.
Dr. Tien was a college athlete and continues to remain physically active when he is not in the office. He was recently married in Aruba and lives with his new wife Luvi and dog Wal-e. He is also a big Baltimore Ravens fan.

Dr. Tien is a life saver. Him and his team has great bead side manners. The office is beautiful, state of the art equipment.
Dr. Tien took time to thoroughly explain the procedure and to make sure I knew the possible side affects. I though it was really nice that him and team checked on me after my surgery. The world needs more great doctors like Dr. Tien and his team.

Luckily we found Dr. Tien's office through a recommendation and I was totally impressed. Dr. Tien and his team resolved my dental issues quickly and thoroughly. It's never nice to have to undergo major dental work, especially during Covid (in another city than the one you live in!) but everything could not have gone better. They took an x-ray and told me what they recommended in a clear, kind way and were able to do extractions that same day. The office is super clean and the team made everything go as smoothly as possible during the operation. Highly recommend, thank you Dr. Tiens!

Dr. Tien met me, did an examination, and had pulled all four of my very problematic wisdom teeth within 2.5 hours. His office was impeccably clean and his entire staff had full PPE, as did he. I cannot recommend him enough—he was spot on about my recovery, called to check up on me, and saved me from a creeping infection and abscess that I had no idea I had. He's wonderful!!

I was a bit nervous to have my wisdom teeth pulled, as I had never been placed under anesthesia. Dr. Tien was incredibly patient and walked me through the details of the procedure. The procedure was completed quickly and I felt minimal pain in recovery. The first evening, my blood clot actually came out of the suture and the bleeding had continued for quite some time. Dr. Tien reached out to me right away, after midnight, with instructions on how to solve the issue. I was very impressed by his accessibility and professionalism. Would highly recommend!

I had 3 teeth extracted. It was so well done by Dr. Tien that I never felt pain at all. The heating process was the same. I was prescribed healing medication for a week and although there was a minimum of inflammation for a couple of hours, there was absolutely no discomfort. I highly recommend Dr. Tien and his staff. It was a very positive experience for me.

Dr. Tien was really attentive in explaining my procedure and walking me through after-core instructions. He called me the day after the extractions to make sure everything was proceeding normally, and took all of my questions. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Tien, very caring and everything with the extraction went smoothly.

They truly made me feel comfortable from the beginning to the end of the process. I was in & out of the surgical chair & did not feel a thing.. except for the pain of swelling afterwards. Dr. Tien even called me that night to check up on me! How cool & considerate is that? I will totally recommend him to my family, friends, colleagues... even strangers!

Because I work in healthcare I understand the struggle to provide superior customer service. With that being said my standards are pretty high, but this office surpased my standards. Everyone was friendly, professional, articulate and well spoken. This is a rarity in healthcare, kudos to the staff and Dr. Tien. I have recommended that my dentist refer other patients to Dr. Tien.

I needed multiple extractions, bone grafts & implants and was absolutely devistated. Dr. Tien made me feel so comfortable and his staff was so welcoming. The whole experience actually ended up being a pleasure. I had very little pain and Dr. Tien even called to check on my the night of my surgery. My treatment was perfectly coordinated with my general dentist, I didn't have to worry a bit. I now have my final crowns and am as happy as a clam!
