Dr. Rick Ranen was born in Detroit, Michigan and raised in Dallas, Texas. in 2001 he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Following graduation, Dr. Ranen completed a one-year advanced education in general dentistry (AEGD) residency in the U.S. Army at Ft. Benning, Georgia and then spent the following year in the Republic of Korea as the 2nd Brigade dental surgeon located in Camp Casey. Following discharge from the U.S. Army, Dr. Ranen returned home to the great state of Texas and his hometown Dallas where he worked as an associate in various dental practices for a few years until joining South Texas Dental in 2007 and became an owner and Clinical Director. Dr. Ranen loves the patients and the team at Rootine Dental – Superior Smiles, “We are like one big family!” As a partner at Rootine Dental – Superior Smiles, my goal is to consistently provide superior clinical dentistry and satisfying customer service in a family environment. In his free time, Dr. Ranen enjoy’s travel, scuba diving, sports, and spending time with his wife and three children along with his puppy Rita.

Dr. Ranen has a very gentle & warm chair side manner. Nerves went away as he explained in great detail what I needed. He answered all of my questions without hesitation. The staff is very welcoming and friendly! Will never go to another dentist!
