Dr. Stella Kim is a graduate of the UCSF School of Dentistry and has practiced in the Bay Area since the start of her professional dental career. Prior to entering dentistry, Dr. Kim spent over a decade as a biomedical researcher in Los Angeles and San Diego, where she worked primarily on drug discovery and translational medicine. Eventually, however, she felt the desire to help people directly through her work on a daily basis, and she decided to make the switch to dentistry.
Dr. Kim is a member of the California Dental Association (CDA), the American Dental Association (ADA), the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), the San Francisco Dental Society (SFDS), the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI).
She is an Invisalign preferred provider and has implantology certification from Hiossen’s Advanced Dental Implant Research and Education Institute (AIC). In addition, she was one of the first dentists in San Francisco to be certified in the Chao Pinhole® surgical technical, an alternative to traditional gum grafting that can reverse receding gums much faster and with significantly less discomfort.
Outside of work, Dr. Kim loves hosting dinner parties with her husband serving organic food made from scratch. She also sings and plays musical instruments, and enjoys attending live concerts.

I was late for my appt. . The office was so gracious! They rearranged things to make everything work, and no shaming me! I as so releived, I really like Dr. Kim and her staff, they are professional, and accommodating. Plus they are gentle and supportive because I am a dental phobe.

My appointment today was extremely pleasant. My last appointment (for a replacement filling) was not as enjoyable as I had a difficult time breathing. So for this appointment, I mentioned if they could not crane my neck so much and that resolved the breathing issues. I came to replace 3 fillings today that took over 3 hours but it was a comfortable experience.
Both Dr. Kim and Sierra were incredibly gentle and attentive during the procedure. I only experienced minimal pain during the procedure and the numbness went away after only an hour or so, along with the pain.
I would highly recommend this place!

Dr. Stella is one fine dentist i met in a long time. She explains the problems and educate very well. She has answers for all the questions and she was very polite. Loved the clinic hygiene and staff. Most of all I felt comfortable.

The visit was much less painful than expected. Came to get a filling redone and she was very gentle with the needle pokes. Got my mouth pretty numb. My only issue was it was very difficult to breathe during the procedure because my neck was extremely bent back. I would suggest that if you experience this as well, mention this as a possible solution (not to bend the neck so far back). The mouth spreader really helped too. I would've fallen asleep if I was able to breathe through my nose.
Dr. Kim also went over the photos she took before and after the procedure on my teeth which is wonderful. The technology nowadays is amazing!

Dr. Kim wasn't afraid to be honest with me and tell me what I needed to improve on and what I couldn't change. They have really gotten to know me and tailor my experience and my treatments to improve my dental health. She also has a great support staff. I originally saw Dr. Kim as a new patient for tooth sensitivity and pain. She and her team did a thorough are careful evaluation to identify the cause of the issue, rather than just treating me without understanding the cause which has happened in the past. I feel like they truly understand the overall health of my mouth and make treatment recommendations that will preserve the quality and integrity of my teeth for the long term rather than making short-sighted decisions. Most importantly, Dr. Kim and her team are professional, friendly, and competent; I'm glad to have gone to them for this bigger procedure because I trust the work they have done. I haven't felt that way about other doctors in the area.

I think she does an extraordinary job of providing services. This is from a person that has over twenty fillings and a cap. I seem all kinds of dentist but I have chosen to stay with her ever since she opened her doors. Picking a dentist can be daunting but when you find the right one you stay with her. Dr Stella Kim is an excellent dentist. She does very thorough and careful work. She recently did a crown for me and took a lot of time to make sure the fit was perfect and that it aligned properly with my bite.During the procedure she made sure I was as comfortable as possible.
You'll never feel rushed with Dr Kim. She takes time to discuss any questions you might have. I trust her expertise completely.
I live in Marin but I make the drive to her office because she is that good!
