I went to the same graduate university as Dr. Rahman—while he pursued dental school, I was working on my law degree and MBA. During our conversation, he asked if I lived in Little Italy (a neighborhood not always welcoming to African American students) as a way to connect. I mentioned I lived in East Cleveland, a predominantly Black neighborhood, and his reaction was one of visible disgust. While I don't believe this was intentional, it left a negative impression.
Additionally, Dr. Rahman recommended quick-fix fillings that he acknowledged "may or may not work," instead of suggesting that I actually needed four root canals. I hadn't been to the dentist in over 10 years and knew I had some serious dental work ahead of me, but his approach felt misleading.
Dr. Rahman should be mindful of facial expressions, as they impact patient trust. A simple apology can help when the energy shifts. I encourage new patients to be cautious and seek second opinions for major dental work.

Great experience! I was nervous after not seeing a dentist for a while but the doctor and staff were very chill and friendly. Since it was my first time, they took a bunch of xrays and Dr. Taimoor went through all of the images and explained in detail what he saw. Then a quick cleaning and I was on my way. No more stress about the dentist.
