Tyler was born and raised in Pleasant Grove, Utah, as the second youngest of 5 kids. During his undergraduate degree, he served a mission in Tallahassee Florida, where he learned Spanish as a second language as he taught and served the people he met. Tyler also met his future wife Madalyn during this time, and the two were married in April 2017. Tyler attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, located in Boston, Massachusetts, graduating in 2024. One of the highlights of his time at TUSDM was a weeklong service trip to the Dominican Republic with the organization Dentists for Humanity, where he was able to use the Spanish he learned earlier in life to communicate and with those patients who were experiencing extreme health disparities. He also was able to do a 5-week externship in south Florida where he continued gaining experience in treating patients of all backgrounds and cultures. At school, he was able to do research in the Orofacial pain department, and take an additional class on Health Literacy to continue learning about how to apply Public Health to his dental degree. During his time in dental school, Tyler was a leader of a weekly young men’s group in his ward for boys ages 12-18, doing service projects like working at food banks, teaching camping and wilderness survival skills during a weeklong summer camp, and many other activities. Seeing the growth and progress of the youth over the last 4 years reminded Tyler of his own journey through life and continually inspired him. When Tyler is not working, he enjoys running, lifting weights, Crossfit, hiking, camping, reading, and traveling to new places. He is passionate about dentistry and loves talking to anyone and answering their questions about oral health.
