I really like Dr Shum. She listens to all of your concerns and also makes sure she understands the reason for your visit. There is a little bit of a wait for most appointments (15-20 mins). But overall she is a great dr who knows her stuff and treats you very well.

The visit was not too useful, since I was referred to Dr Shum by my GP and Dr Shum then just referred me on to someone else. The referrals she gave me didn't take my insurance anyway so I ended up looking up possible doctors myself, so it was really mostly a waste of time. On the other hand that is probably not Dr Shum's fault and for all I know she may be excellent for other types of conditions, so take my experience with a grain of salt. That's why I'm saying "Maybe" -- make sure you are not being mistakenly referred to a neurologist for something that should go to a different kind of specialist! Going to your GP first for a referral is what we are encouraged to do (and on some insurance plans, required to) but sometimes that just wastes your time

Dr Shum asked questions and listened to the answers, examined me thoroughly, and explained her opinion clearly and made sure I understood her diagnosis. She was also very personable and easy to talk to.

Dr. Shum was unable to diagnose me with anything neurological but was very thorough in reviewing my case. She referred me to a different type of specialist for further testing that my PCP had thought was not necessary. So I did appreciate her opinion even though I did not get any new answers.

Dr.Shum was very professional and made us feel very comfortable the moment we stepped into the room. She was very thorough. Even her receptionist was very helpful. After booking the apointments my son needed to other doctors to complete the tests he needed, she gave me a handwritten note on how to get there (bus, transfer, etc.)! I highly recommed Dr. Shum! and thats coming from a very picky mother!
